Kindly leave at this office for reward. tl* NOTICE OF LEASING OF SCHOOL AND STATE LANDS The school and state lands in Ward County, North Dakota, not already leased, will be offered for rent at a public leasing to be held at the court house in the city of Minot, in said county on the 6th day of April, 1921, commencing at 10:00 o'clock A. M. The terms of leasing will be as fol lows All lands will be offered for a term of five years beginning with the sea son of 1921, and only for grazing and hay purposes, at the minimum rental of $15.00 per quarter section. All lands will be struck off to the highest bidder who will be required to pay at the time of leasing the rent for the season of 1921, also an addi tional fee of $3.00 for issuing lease, which fee will be charged for each quarter section or fraction thereof in cluded in such lease. School and State lands will not be leased to a person or company al ready leasing 640 acres of school or state land. 'A list of the lands to be offered for lease will be on file with the Treasurer of said county for public inspection for at least two weeks before the date of leasing. Coal rights are reserved to the state in all leases and the Board of Univer sity and School Lands reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Livingston Eight Teams Play for Championship Friday and Saturday The statec hampionship high school basket ball games will be played at the Minot Normal school gymnasium Fri day and Saturday this week. The fol lowing winning district teams will participate: Egeland, Grand Forks, Hettinger, Bowbells, Minot,, Mandan, Valley City, Wahpeton. The officials are Chas. Giese, Crookston, Minn., and Guy M. Ogle, Winett, Mont. Prof. Geo. Mueller of the Minot Normal is director of the tournament. The program follows: Luncheon for the coaches Friday noon at the Grand Cafe, when places will be drawn. Two games Friday afternoon and two games that night. Two games: Saturday forenoon and finals that eve ning. Theatre parties for visiting teams Saturday afternoon, guests of citizens of Minot. Independent to Print 150,000 Immi gration Circulars The Ward County Independent is preparing to print 150,000 circulars telling the story of the development of the Mouse River Loop and setting forth the splendid opportunities that, await the farmer who wants to raise I stock and a variety of crops. The! copy is being prepared under the sup-1 ervision of W. M. Smart, for the im migration Department of the Minot Association of Commerce and the cir culars will have wide distribution thruout the east central states. A ton and a half of book paper for the job will arrive in Minot this week and the I circulars will be off the press at an early date. The money for this ad vertising has been raised by popular subscription among the business in terests of Minot. Our people have the utmost faith in the future of North Dakota and are willing to spend some money to tell the world. Eckstein applied to Supreme Court Justice Van Siclen in Brooklyn for al imony and counsel fees pending trial of her action for separation from her husband, Bernard, of Jersey City. Eckstein stated in his affidavit that his wife smoked cigars and chewed tobacco. "When 1 told her to stop," he swore, "she said to me: 'You smoke cigar ettes, don't you? Well, when you stop smoking cigarettes I will stop smok ing cigars and chewing tobacco.'" Decision was reserved. Deer Plentiful at Williston Deer are very plentiful near Willis ton according to Sheriff Mackenroth, who visited Minot Monday. Then an any munbsrof deer in the woods with in two miles of that city and the hunters are glad to know that a law has been enacted permitting them t# hunt one week in November, tho the limit is one deer for the season. No deer hunting licenses will be issued to non-residents. Willistonites are re ported to have enjoyed many a juicy venison steak regardless of the fact that the season is still closed. Dr. .1. W. New love Itack from Cali fornia Dr. John W. Newlove has return ed from California, where he spent several months. The doctors' health has not been extra good since he re turned from war service in Europe. While engaged in one of the mliitary hospitals in the Alps the doctor con tracted the influenza and was very ill for weeks after. He is feeling nuiih better since his sojourn in Cali fornia. Leifur, resides in1 .Minot. lie has been a member of the order for 30 years and has beer, field man for 14 years. He has done much! in the upbuilding of the order. Williston Youth Arrested For Wife Desertion Ray Trowbridge, of Williston, aged I'i years, was arrested by Officer Bakeman in Minot Saturday night, charged with deserting his wife and three-year-old child. It is claimed that Trowbridge has become infatuated in a Minot woman. Sheriff C. C. Mack-! en roth of Williams county arrived from Williston Monday and took the man back with him. 1 eson and Herron of McVille, N. !., for alleged malpractice, will be tried at Lakota next week. W. H. Sibbald is attorney for Mrs. Smith and E. R. Sinkler has been engaged as associate counsel. Mrs. Smith fell and fractur ed her leg near the hip on Christmas day, 1919. The McVille doctors treat ed her. She was in a hospital five or six months, finally going to St. Paul, where a bone specialist placed her leg I in a cast which she is still wearing, I but claims to have not fully recovered.
