give: Goss good majorities and put him
out of danger. Mr. Cooley should re
ceive ~a better vote in those counties
than Mr. Ellsworth and there are very
good prospects of his being able to
cut down the Jamestown man's lead of
a little better than 500 votes, although
the vote will be an exceedingly close
one.
The fifteen counties that are still
to be heard from are Adams, Bowman,
Cass, Dickey, Dunn, Emmons, Het

REPUBLICANS WILL BE A SOLID
PARTY FOR THE SUPPORT OF
THE TICKET THIS FALL.
Every indication points to a solid

There has not for a number of years

RAIN HELPS
I
THE RECENT RAINS HAVE DONE
80ME GOOD ALTHOUGH THEY
CAME TOO LATE TO HELP
VERY MUCH, S
In conversation with a gentleman
who has recently made an extensive
tour of this vicinity we' learned that
the recent rains, while coming tod late
to save the crops, has done much good
in this vicinity.
He reports that crops were looking
pretty good In the vicinity of Grand
Harbor, as compared with what they
did previous to the rain, and that in
his opinion the farmers in this locali
ty will get their seed and that there
were spots, where the crop should go
10 to 15 bushels to the acre.
He reports the
Bame
condition as ex%
isting in the vicinity of Webster, near*
Hampden, Derrick and in the Edmores
county.
A number of places the farmers were
plowing their grain under, and-is Is
considered in numerous localities that'
this is a wise move as it will insure
enough heavier yield next, year to
make up for what is lost this year.
Feed has been considerably benefitt
ed by the rain in some localities.:

S00 LINE NEWS
IT IS EXPECTED THAT LINE WILL
BE IN HERE FROM MEDFORD
THIS FALL.
The report has gone out that there
would be no more work done on the
Soo line through this locality this year.
This does not seem to be the case al
though It is intimated that work west
from Devils Lake may be suspended
until neit spring.
Pres. Kerlin, of the Commercial club,
in conversation with those in charge
of the work, at the. club rooms a few
days ago, was informed that indica
tions were that the line would be run
into Devils Lake this fall. The work
of grading east from here is fast near
ing completion the gaps being practi
cally closed from Barttett to Medford,
and work is still in progress.
It is possible that the line will not
be built any further-than this city this,
fall but it is thought that it will be
completed that far.

FLOREN PLEADED
GUILTYATLAKOTA
ARRAIGNED BEFORE TEMPLETON
TODAY—RAHDER8 WILL MAKE
HI8 PLEA TUESDAY.
Cashier S. A. Floren of the People's
State bank of Lakota this afternoon
entered pleas of guilty In the district
court of Nelson county to three
charges'. President F. H. Rahders,
also arraigned, was given until 1:80
o'clock Tuesday afternoon to enter his
pleas.
The making of these pleas by itr.
Floren practically brings to a close
one of the most sensational cases that
has ever been brought to public notice
in North Dakota. When the bank
failed a few months ago ugly charges
were rumored about bearing upon the
manipulations of Mr. Floren since he
has been in the bank.
Shortages in the bank were very
heavy and the failure, was one of the
worst that has ever been experienced
in North Dakota.
Mr. Floren was not given his
tence today The charges on
he pleaded guilty were forgeries
the receiving of deposits after he
that the bank was insolvent
