Howard Kitto came over from Shields yesterday to take a position with the Pioneer for a while. Howard is an all 'round printer and will prove valuable aid in mak ing the Pioneer the best paper in this section of the state. Louis San tee brought him over. County Auditor Colville went tb Fargo and Bismarck Tuesday on business.that will detain him until sonic time next. week. In the meantime parties having business with the county auditor can trans act same with C. Christensen at the Pioneer office. Hugene Means, probate clerk of the local Agency, went to La Plant Monday to visit a brother who was a delegate to the Black Hill's coun cil held there last week. At the council it was decided to retain C. Calhoun, a prominent Washington lawyer to press the claim of the In dians arising out of the Black Hill's treaty. Frank Fiskc returns to Bismarck to-morrow after spending a week here visiting at his home and look ing after business at his studio. It is his intention to spend the winter at the Capital city, where he will be connected with the Butler Studio. It is likely, however, that lu will arrange to look after the wants of his parons here at regular inter veals. 'i E. C. Witzlebeu, who sustained a fractured shoulder while fighting prairie fire during the early part of October, returned last week frbm the Bismarck hospital where he has been receiving treatment. He has so far recovered as to be able-to re sume his duties as prii^ipalof ttie boarding school, whi(^. will be pleasing news to his ir&ny friend^ in view of the series of misfortunes' he has met with during the past: few months.
