McDonald to Miss Luvina Baker, both of Cavalier, N. D. ATKINSON—At Pembina, Friday evening:, Nov. 1st, David Atkinson, aged 72 years. In the death of Mr. Atkinson, Pembina loses one of its most respected citizens. Hewas among the early settlers ot the county, and for many years farmed in Carlisle township near the border of this township. He was a member of the board of super.isors of th.it township continuously for fifteen years. About two years ago the burdens of advancing age caused him to leave the active labors of his farm, and purchasing a residence in this city he settled down to a less vigorous, but almost as active lite. He was always a busy man on the farm and in town was generally engaged at some kind of work, continuing up to a few days be/ore his death. He was elected a member of the city council, and was a valued member of that body. He car ried the same ideas into public business as in his private affairs, and was as frugal and carelul in expenditures of public funds as if they were his own. He was a public spirited citizen, awake to public needs, and Aim and earnest in his politi cal opinions. His death came very suddenly. He had been ailing a lew days previous with a dyspeptic trouble., but nothing of a serious nature. He had been out on the street in the afternoon and was about the house before supper. Dr. Harris had seen him after supper and prescribed for the stomach trouble. Soon after the doctor left, Mr. Atkinson rose from the bed where he had been lying, walked into another room and sat down in a rocking chair Then his wife noticed him fall forward to the floor. Harry Horr came in with a prescription from the drug store, and called in the nighbors and Dr. Harris, but there was nothing to be done except the usual offices for the dead. Heart failure, induced by the stomach trouble was the immediate cause, though the heart was doubtless weak from age and other troubles. The funeral was held on Sunday at the M. E. Church in this city, and not only was the seating capacity taxed to the fullest extent, but near'.y fifty people stood during the services. Rev. Mr. [ephcott officiated and preach ed an impressive sermon on the resur ection of the dead Appropriate music was rendered by the choir. Among the congregation were many old friends and neighbors from Carlisle and other towns, who had braved the keen cold wind of the day to testily to the esteem and respect of their old frierid by their presence at the last sad rites. There were some very beautiful floral tributes upon the coffin, while the dead face looked upwards as natural as if he were but asleep. The bod}' was laid to rest in the city cemetery, there to rest fi om the arduous labors of a long and well spent life, until the trumpet shall sound that shall call the dead to life again. The sincere sympathy of many friends is given to the widow thus left sorrowing alone in her old ag -, and to the son Charles, whom almost everyone in the county knows and likes. Air. Charles Atkinson had left home the af.ernoon of his fathers de:ith, and bade him^ood bye as he went to take the train for Fargo. Before he arrived at Fargo the news of his lather's death was awaiting him there, and he r. turned on the following day. LOCAL WANTS. Estray Pig. You can always tell them from the rest. They never do well afterwards but stay small and sickly. It is worse to see a blight strike children. Good health is the natural right of children. But some of them don't get their rights. While the rest grow big and strong one stays small and weak. Scott's Emulsion can stop that blight. There is no reason why such a child should stay small. Scott's Emulsion is a medicine with lots of strength in it—the kind of strength that makes things grow. Scott's Emulsion makes children grow, makes them eat, makes them sleep, makes them play. Give the weak child a chance. Scott's Emulsion will make it catch up with the rest. This picture represents the Trade Mark of Scott's Emulsion and is on the wrapper of every bottle.
