l'.ltli U. S. Infantry, stationed ut Augusta,
Gov, boa been promoted ' to a Captaincy ' in
the same regiment. Capt. Lowe Is a sou of
the late lamented Col. I -owe, of the 12th
Regiment Ohio Volunteer, who fell In bat
tle on the 10th of September 1HC1, at Carnl-
fux Ferry, Virginia, and a brother of Thog.
O. lAwej Esq, of this clty.k Captain Lowe,
we believe, has been In the military service
since the commencement of the war, and
has distinguished himself in many of the
trying campaigns of thut period. He long
ago won the reputation of being a gallant
and- accomplished oftioe and soldier, and
will no doubt prove an ornament to his

Hill appeared last evening, for the llrst
time lu this city, in the great character of
"Othello," and right well did he sustalu it.
We never witnessed a better rendition of
the character, and we have often seen .it
perfermed by the most distinguished actors
on the American stage. He wag ably gup-
ported by Mrs. Allen as "liesdemona,"
Mrs. Perry as " Emella," and Mr. Duncan
as "Iago." The play was admirable cast,
and every member of the company did
