iaThere are two - remarkable
brothers in Eaton- One is an obli
ging and honest boot and shoe
makerand the other a clever and
obliging gentleman who supplies
the public with the bast of Oyster
suppers.1 You will find both on
Main street, living almost opposite
to each other. For an Oyster sup

shoes or boots, ask John where his
brother jives.
STMfs. Wilson, of Camden, is

her advertisement in our paper of

really deserving of encouragement,
and wc have no doubt that she will
be encouraged by the public "We

We have received a splendidly

A GREAT FIRE IN EATON.
Our readers in general must have
heard of the jrreat loss of property
sustained by Mr. Morrow, of Eaton,
by fire, on Thursday, tho 2nd inst.
The fire is said to have originated
in spark from a locomotive being
blown on to a stack near the track.
Between forty and fifty stacks
Flax, the greater part of the ma
chinery, the roof of tho buildings,
and part of the walls, were all de
stroyed. The damage done by' the
fire, to Mr. Morrow, cannot be less
than $15,000. The town of Eaton,
and tho whole of Preble county,
have sustained a great loss by this
terrible and. destructive fire. Wo
think that every man in the county
should comb forward at once, and
also the Board of Directors of the
Railroad, to subscribe cheerfully
and largely, to make up a great
part of Mr. Morrow's loss. Why
not? the thing can be done, and it
ought to be done forthwith. : Gen
tlemen of Eaton and Preble county,
take ;up ' the subject form your
town and township committees
Btart a subscription worthy of your
selves,, and. let. there : be a careful
and " systematic : canvass made
throughout the town and county
We have been requested to soy
to all flax-growers in tho county,
that they mRy bring on their flax
to the old stand at once, or keep
back for a few weeks, and Mr.
Morrow will be on hand to attend
to the business.
We are happy to add, that the
re-building of the burnt property
has already commenced. Mr. M.
is a good and sound citizen, and an
enterprising man; let him be gen
erously and cheerfully sustained,
by a liberal public.
