String Color* Appear la All
liktural tones are outstanding. They
appear in every type of washable
spdrts silks, linens and cottons. 3They
are followed closely by the strong
peasant tones, such as gold, vivid
pinks, clear strong greens and blues.
"Sweetpea" colors, combining strong
and light tones such as manve and
wine-red, two tones of lilac, deep and
light pinks, are taking hold quickly.
The prevalence of two-tone treatments
makes it easier to assemble a smart
accessory ensemble without having to
match the dress, giving that appear
ance of studied casunlness of which
our English sisters are past masters.

Some grand Ideas In street and day
time clothes, all white or combined or
tftntrasted with color, are the latest
note In summer togs. White classics
in smooth streamlines, with the short
sleeved or sleeveless dresses expertly
cut, tailored and fashioned with sharp
ly inverted plaits In the skirtline.
These are made of smooth semi-rough
or stunning new rough weaves of the

Vivid colors are used for the dash

One of the most exciting develop
ments In the summer woolens, which
are so smart this season, is the new
wool taffeta. This charming material
Is really a glorified version of that old
time favoritéi wool challis. It appears
In small quaint geometric prints in
white on dark grounds or In deep
shades against white. .It tailors per
fectly In shirtwaist frocks pf the
street and spectator sports types and
being equally attractive for active
sports wear It Is winning rapid ac
ceptance. The grand thing about this
new wool taffeta is that it is as prac
tical as It is good looking fpr It does
not crush or wrinkle, holds tailored
pleats in any weather and washes and
Irons as easily and satisfactorily as
cotton. The gayest hues (it comes in
a riot of bright colors) are colorfjist.
An important consideration for warm
weather wear Is that this summer fab
ric will not cHng to the body, which
makes It cool and comfortable. The

Latest Offering in Shoes
Shoes are decorated with all sorts
of dressmaker details—in fact, many
of them were Inspired by actual
dresses. Collars of white or pastels
trim dark kid pumps, contrasting
stitching is just as effective on shoes
as on dresses, colored bows are flat
tering, eyelets popular and the wide
use of white accents on frocks Is re
peated on navy, brown and black
shoes. Even the frock with one-sided
trimming effect finds matching foot
wear with decorations concentrated at
one side. This new tendency to cre
ate shoes to harmonize with dresses is
a vast help in assembling an effective
wardrobe.
