Pledges of a similar kind were made in New York last year upon the Cannlenlnrgeineutissue, and on the strength of them, the Locofocos, though originally op posed to the measure, attained several im portant offices, and among others the control of the Canal Board. We find in one of our Eastern exchanges, tho following despatch es: 'Albany, May 1 WA. The Court of Appeals to-day reversed tho decision of the Supreme Court in the case of Phelps vs. Newall, the C'nniil Auditor, and denied the mandamus, directed by said court, to be issued against Newall. The vote was unanimous. It also unanimously affirmed the decision of the Su preme Court of Urange county, declaring the cunul law unconstitutional. Judge Wells declined voting in both cases."
