Tuesday, November 7, is authorized
by tho commissioners of Knox coun
ty. This statement Is prepared, not as
an argument, either for or against tho
proportion, but entirely for tho pur
poso of explanation.
The two principal points to bo ex
plained aro: First Tho two mill lovy
previously voted by tho people of
Knox county and to ran five (5) yeats
has expired. Since tho expiration, of
that Urns the commissioners of Knox
county find it impossible to meet the
demands of tho people for moie roads
unless the abovo proposition should
carry,
Second-r-Tho road money in Knox
county is divided into two funds, tho
Improved Jtoad Fund and the County
Road Fund. Tho county money which
goes to holp build the state system
of roads must come fiom the Implor
ed Road Fund, while the "County
Fund" is all used in tho "County Sys
tem." Every dollar to bo thrived fiom
this levy will go Into the "County
Road Fund" and consequently will bo
spent only on tho cotintjvfo;ids, not
