COTTON.
Ne-w Yorlc CotioH.
New York, April 19. Aside from oc
casional spurts and short covering and
attempted support for May and July
by the mpre prominent bulls, the cotton
market was inactive and at times dis
played decided weakness. 'Since tha
breaking of the Texas drouth, tae only
complaint Is of the drouth at Atlantic
states. The market opened fraction
ally lower and closed steady. '
Liverpool Market.
Liverpool, Eng.. April 19. There 1
moderate business being done in the
spot division of the cotton market to
day, the sales aggregating 8000 bales,
on a basis of 11 English points lower,
at 7.86 for American middlings, or 15.72
in American values.
Imports were 14.000 bales. Including
10,200 bales of American.
Futures opened quiet and ranged
from 44 to 6 lower and ruled steady.
The opening on this side was lower, but
the tone steady.
The trade feels the effect of the im
proved crop conditions, the only adverse
condition being the unseasonable cool
ness of the weather.
The spot market is steady and in
fair demand owing to a desire of the
bear leaders in New York to mas3 all
cotton for tender on May delivery.

INQUIRY AS TO THE
WHEREABOUTS OF L. C. BONHAM
i
Telegrams have been received from Sk.
Louis asknag as to the whereabouts of
L. C. Bonham and wife. Relatives seem
to be uneasy. Friends of the couple
here do not appear to know where they
are. H. Her3kovitz, -who was a partner
.with Bonham in the barber supply busi
ness, says Bonham sold out to him
April 1 and that Bonhs.a also soW a
barbershop which he owned in the (base
ment of the Anils buik&tg- Bonham, he
says, told him he wouM YiYe to leave
El Paso, as the altitude was too high
for him. Bonham. had. been living here
over eight years.
Bonham ami wife lived at 504 Texas
street, upstairs, and at that address Airs.
Golden, mother of Golden the plumber,
said she bought the furnishings of the
pjace from Air. and Mrs. Bonham a
week ago last Thursday and had not
seen them since, although she got a,
note irom Mrs. Uonham last .Friday and
that Mrs. Bonham at least must have
been here on that date. The note was
an inquiry as to whether the Bonhams
had not left a violin in a closet in the
house. Mr. Herskoviiz says that he saw
a traveling man who met Mr. Bonham at
Olint on some land business last Fri
day, the same day the wife was heard

THE FOBSDER OF INDIGESTION.
'The founder of indigestion was Noah;
he forgot to leave the pigs ashore.
From the hog comes lard; from lard.,
indigestion. The moment you put lard
cooked food into your stomach, you
send a pressing Invitation for dyspep
sia to come and take possession.
You don't need to use lard, thogh,
unless you want to; there is-a cooking
fat that makes food any stomach can
easily digest. It is COTTOLENE; no
hog fat just pura vegetable oil, nutri
tious, wholesome; makes .flaky pie
cru3t, crisp doughnuts, USfht. rich rolls
and cake in fact, all the things you
like, but cannot eat perhaps, because
they do not "agree."
COTTOL.ENE has been well named
"the perfect shortening."
