AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE
SALE OF INDRAWN FOWLS
AND POULTRY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL
' EL PASO:
Section 1.
It shall be unlawful for any person
.within the corporate limits of the city
of. El Paso to sell, expose for sale,
offer for sale or in any manner keep
for sale any slaughtered fowl or poul
try whatever, unless same shall have
been drawn within one hour after same
shall have been slaughtered. By the
term or expression "drawn" is meant
the removal of the intestines from the
interior, and by the term "undrawn
fowl" is meant a fowl from the in
terior of which the intestines have not
been wholly removed, and any person
offending against this ordinance shall
be fined not less than five nor more
than one hundred dollars.
Section 2.
This ordinance shall not apply to any
wild game bird weighing less than
three pounds.
Section 3.
A great public emergency having
arisen the charter rule requiring that
an ordinance be read at two successive
regular meetings of the City Council,
is hereby suspended by the consent of
the mayor and the unanimous vote of
the aldermen present, and this ordi
nance shall be In force and effect from
and after its 'passage and approval.

issued the following, his first procla
mation: '
"A Proclamation.
"Whereas, The 5th day of September.
1910. by national authority, has been
made a holiday.' known as Labor day.
in recognition of those whose toil and
skill is the foundation of all society
and civilization; and, i
"Whereas. No city is more 'indebted
to its workers than one which, like
El Paso, is growing visibly under
their hands and everywhere displaying
evidences of industry.
"Therefore. In honor of that day all
municipal offices will be closed there
on and all employes of the city other
than policemen and firemen are re
lieved from duty during the same. All
employers of labor in El Paso are ur
gently requested to imitate municipal
example, and grant their employes a
Holiday during the day so set aside by
congress in its honor.
