H3. Paso Eesidents Begin to
Peel the High Cost of
Heating.
El Paso is to feel the high cost of
heating. Coal is going up and may
keep on the move toward the skyline.
Gallup coal Is now worth 59 per ton
in one ton. lots. This Is the ordinary
domestic coal. However, Dawson coal
Is now quoted at $7 per ton -which is
some cheaper.
Tornillo wood, the best fuel -wood in
this section is selling- at the present
time at ?7 per cord.
Last year the price on coal was $S
per ton, but the wholesale price at the
Gallup mines took a jump and of
course the consumer has to pay the
freight. The, retailer Is not in the
business for his health alone, there
fore he tacks the extra dollar on his
price for the fuel..
"While there is some coal on hanel In
El Paso at the present time, if a sud
den cold snap should come some per
sons would suffer, for the supply will
quickly be exhausted and shipments
are not large as there are fe-w places
where it can be stored. ,
