Officers for 4 Months.
New Pastor Called.

1 The two games' of basketball, at Hart
ley hall proved a marKed saccess. The
frames were very exciting" throughout.
A girls' team played an interesting
game -with a team of girls from Las
Cruces, resulting in a score t 1-r to
J 5 in favor of the former. The game be-
tfrween the faculty ana college was one
of the most exciting games ever pulled
off here. The score was first on one
side and then the other. The game was
exceedingly rough, and some of the
players were over exerted The final
score being 20 to 19 in favor of the
college team.
The officers of the Christian En
deavor siciety for the ensuing four
months were elected last night at their
business meeting as pllowsi
President, S. Egbert, Merrill; vice
resident, Claude Henry; secretory,
wenry, Alccowen; chairman of commit
tees as foll6ws: Prayer meeting, Miss
Frances Hinds; social, May Buell; mis
sionary, Hazel Miller; flower and re
lief, Orrfe Longbottom; music, Grace
Scott, and lookout, Claude Henry.
Dr. Gass, in charge of the Presby
terian work in New Mexico, filled the
pulpit in the church at Mesilla Park
both morning and night. He stated that
the local Christian Endeavor was the
best he had seen in New Mexico.
The Bible study committee met yes
terday -with the teachers of the Y. M.
C. A- classes to arrange plans for the
last semester of the year.

Several select parties were held at

Kills His Father.
Paterson, N. J., Jan. 16. Isadore
Friedman fired 10 revolver pullets into
the body of his father, Hyman, an au
tomobile dealer, here Sunday, and then
sent his brother for the police. The
son was 22 years of acre and the father
48. In explanation of the killing Isa-
aore said his father had been cruel to
his mother for the last five years.

Jumps to His Death.
St. Louis, Mo., Jan. 16. H. R. Whit
more,, aged 6S, leaped from a window
in the eighth story of the Marquette
hotel to the pavement below Sunday,
killing himself instantly. Despondency
over his. continued illness, and he
death of his wife, who was the daugh
ter of George Knapp, one time publish
er of the pt. Louis Republic, is given
as the cause of the act."

Omaha, Neb., Jan. 16. In a jealous
rage Sunday Walter York, a machin
ist, almost severed his wife's head with
a butcher knife and slashed his own
throat. Both were found dead shortly
after the tragedy by a brother of Mrs.
Tork.

Kill Indifferent Sweetheart.
Denver. Colo., Jan. 16. Miss Anato
lia "Wunderle, aged 21, was shot and
killed this morning by M. Henry Mur
phy, a former sweetheart, while re
turning from morning mass. The
shooting occurred on "West 25th ave-.
nue, -within one block of her home,
and directly in fronj. of Murphy's resi-
' dence, and followed the girl's refusal

At the police station Murphy said he
was unable to epeplln his action.

Flies In Denver Aeroplfine.

dale, in a Denver built biplane, made
a spectacular flight after darkness had
fallen here Sunday. Van Arsdale made
three flights in all. The machine is a
cross between the Curtlss and Faranan
types and was built for E. Lynn Mat
thewson of Denver.

said to be facing a failure as a result
of their efforts to maintain an artifi

Four Killed In Explosion.
Niobrara, Neb., Jan. 16. Four per
sons were killed and four injured in
an explosion which occurred here at
7:30 o'clock last evening. The fire
which resulted from the explosion

from Badajose, Spain, five miles from
