M., and you will find a town that is backing its judgment in the mat ter of advertising its resources to the extent of ten thousand dollars per year; you will fud ' a town that put up in the year 1911 public buildings and improvements . aggregating $95,000.00, and installed a $40,000.00 sewer system to boot; you will find private citizens spending from $10,000 up to $50, 000.00 in putting up substantial business buildings; you will find the farmers of the surrounding vaHey enlarging their wells, put ting down new wells, installing new pumping plants, reclaiming still larger acreage; you will search for days without finding a knock er, this species being as scarce in Deming as that variety for which Diogenes searched with a lantern in ancient Athens. Now, consider this proposition for .a moment sensibly, granting that if you are pre disposed against this section, that you may "PURESWA TER IN AMERICA "Purest Water In America" possibly be wrong. " We realize that that is the hardest of suppositions to drive into the headof the average man or woman; but just for the sake of argument, suppose that such predisposition on'your part is wrong. . Then consider this right quick. Communities, as a whole; are rarely deceived. A united, active, , aggressive, optimistic community is all . but i overwhelming evidence that its prosperity is , upon; a substantial basis. Is it easier for you to suppose that a whole community of thou sands of people who are thoroughly familiar with conditions are in error regarding the pos sibilities of this section, than to grant that you, Mr. .Doubter; basing your single and unsup ported assumptions on hearsay, are wrong? There is ifo special interest behind this ad vertisement. The town of Deming pays for itand pays for the writin g of it.
