Fifty-seven strong, the "busy business
boosters" who will spread El Paso's
fame through Arizona and New Mexico
for the next six day3i gathered at the
chamber of commerce building on San
Francisco street at 7:30 oclock Mon
day morning. Present, too, was the 2d
cavalry band. Belated excursionists
hurried up from time to .time and
hastily gathered ammunition in the
form of red hats, canes and badges, for
the junket. a
AVhen the order to march was finally
given, it was 7:50 oclock. Down San
Francisco street stepped the excursion
ists, led by the cavalry band, which
itself was led by parade-master Kepley.
Every marcher wore a hat so red that
passersby gazed in open-mouthed -wonder
at them. The bracin.T morning air
Imparted a lightness to the step that
become infectious along the route of
march to the Stanton street depot of
the G. H. & S. A. railway, where a
special train was awaiting them.
Sleepy-eyed pedestrians along the line
of march became suddenly awake when
the parade came in sight.
