Crockett expressed thanks on be half of the Rescue Home association for the towels brought by the club women for the equipment of the Res cue home. The hostesses of the day who re ceived the club members as they ar rived were Mesdames J. W. Loreutzen, C M. Lyman, Rowland Gilchrist, Rob ert P. Mosson. Clarence Johnson. S. J. I Freudenthal and George Brunner. As the art department of the Wom an's club is this year devoting especial attention to art in the home, it is con sidered appropriate that' the members of this department who excel in culi nary art should make some special fea tuie of this. So the art department will conduct a cake baking contest and cake sale, to be held the Tuesday and Wed nesday before Thanksgiving. There will be two prizes for the best cakes. Mrs. A. J. Fraser is the chairman in charge. About El Pasoans. Robert Piatt, who is ill with typhoid fever at Hotel Dleu, is slowly recov ering. Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Craig are located at the Marguerite apartments for the winter. Mrs. D. P. Beckham, who has been quite 111 for some time, is able to be about again. Senator Claude B. Hudspeth, who has been ill at Hotel Dleu, has been moved to his home. He is convalesc ing from an attack of appendicitis. Mrs A. S. J. Eylar, who has been quite ill at Hotel Dleu, has improved sufficiently to be removed to her home Wednesday. Miss Edith McCleary was taken very ill with appendicitis Wednesday night at her home, 2909 Bliss street and was taken to Hotel Dieu for an operation. She is doing nicely today Rev and Mrs Robin Gould are now located at Carpinteria, Calif, where Mr Gould has been appointed in charge of the "Methodist church for the com ing year. Mrs. Gould, who was in very poor TTealth while ih Phoenix, Ariz., has Improved greatly in California. Both young people lived in El Paso for a number of years, and are very well known here. Cross Wednesday after noon at her home on Wyoming street. The rpms were attractively decorated with ohrysanthemums. A feature of the affair was the surprise shower of gifts" from the members to Mrs. T. J McCamant, a recent bride. The guests of the club were Mrs. Robert Olds, Mrs J. Steamer, Mrs. B. J. Zabrlskl, and Miss Marguerite Beaty, of Jasper, Tex. The amusement of the afternoon was "00." Mrs. B. J. Zabrlskl won the first prize and Mrs. Thomas White the con solation prize. Following the games light refreshments were served. Mrs! Wyche Greer will entertain the club next week. Among the members pres ent were: Mesdames Z. Morgan Miller William McSain. Thomas White, Wyche Greer. T. J. McCamant, E. A. Walters and Harry Stevens. The Woman's Catholic Order of For esters, St. Mary's court, No. 616, held its monthly social Wednesday after noon in the Knights of Pythias hall. The games of bunco and high five were the amusements of the afternoon. Miss Beasy Welch won the first prize in the games of high five and Mrs. George Hillman won the consolation prize. Mrs. L. Malone won the first prize In bunco and Mrs. Roy Hageman won the consolation prize. Following the card games refreshments of Ice cream and cake were enjojed. The social com mittee in charge was composed of Mes dames D. Ford, chairman; W. B. Giar don and Roy Hageman. Among the members present were Mesdames M. P. Maloney. Marie Spillman, P. E. Walker entertained the members of Harmony Chapter Or der of the Eastern Star, Wednesday nght at their home in Grand "View. The affair was the monthly social of the order. On the entertainment committee in charge were Mesdames A. E. Ryan, chairman; B. J. Zabrlskl. C F Holz warth, Helen Crutcher, J R. Walker, G. W. Dennis and Alice Wilson. The house was attractively decorated with quantities of chrysanthemums and strands of crepe paper in the colors of the Eastern Star. Japanese lanterns were strung aboutthe porches. About 70 members attended tne party. Dur ing the evening musical selections were enjoyed. The games of the evening were strung about the porches. About were "300" and bunco. Mrs. Helen Mead won tho first prize in bunco and John Hughes the consolation prize. A. Burch won the first prize in "500" and C. D. I club was entertained by Mrs. R. R. Mason Wednesday after noon at her home on McKinley avenue. The members spent the afternoon pleas antly in sewing and conversation. Joseph Garrard has returned to El Paso, after spending several months traveling in the east Miss Mary Hill has returned to El Paso from a visit in Galveston and other east Texas points. Mrs. W. H. Austin and Miss Maude Austin, who have been spending sev eral months In California, have re turned to El Paso. Mr. and Mrs. Harry T. Walz, who went to Phoenix to watch the finish of the El Faso to Phoenix automobile race, returned to El Paso Thursday morning. Miss Irma Kuhn, who has been vis iting her cbusin, Mrs. Mary C. Hall, at Alpine, Texas, for the past three months, returned to her home In El Paso Wednesday. Dr. H. F. Wright who has been spending the summer in California, re turned to El Paso Thursday.
