The app'olntment will come from Washington as it is made by the sec retary of the treisury with the appro val of the president While it is not known who will be named it is prob able that a local banker will be se lected to take Mr. Martinez's place in order that the southwestern part of the reserve district may be represent ed on the board. The delegation was headed by Lafayette Clapp, president of the Elephant Butte Water Users' association, of the Menilla valley. This association is closely affiliated with the Kl Paso Valley Water Users' associa tion of which Mr. Martinez was chair man of the board of governors and the two organizations have" worked to gether for years for the mutual In terests of the two valleys. The city hall closed at 3 oclock Fri iIhj afternoon for the remanider of the day out of respect for tho memory of Mr. Martinez The chamber of com merce also closed as did all of ti,e local real estate offices from 4 to S oclock at the request of the board of governors of the Real Estate board. CARLOS HUSK HELD Funeral services of Dr. Carlos Husk, who died Tuesday morning at Laredo, Texas, of typhus fever, were held this afternoon at 2 oclock at the undertak ing chapel of McBean, Simmons and Hartford, under the auspices of tho local Masonlo lodge and the El Paso Medical society. The body was brought to El Paso from Laredo, early Thursdaj morning. The active pall bearers, all membors of tho Masonic lodge, wore as follows: Doctors James Vance, E. R. Carpenter, W R. Jameson. II. E. Stevenson, Wm. Greave, and II. V. Jackson. The honorary pall bearers, who are members of the American Smelting and Refining company of Chihuahua are: Messrs W. IL Drury, R. F. Monahan. C Ryan, R. Starr. M. F Harrison and R. C Defoureu. Interment will be made in Evergreen cemetery.
