Solitude on the links, with none to dispute the right of way. Is the IdM condition for golfers who place the pleasures of accomplishment far above their inclinations to gregariousness, hut It Is seldom to be had on a popu lar course. No links that is worth while, especially on the days when every one feels free for an outing, with none to dispute their rights, is ever to he en loved all alone. But it is different with the golfer who Kroee out regularly to study the i Apablllties of any particular club and to school himself In the accurate methods of handling it Any old cor ner of the course will do for this sort of practice and there is no better way to improve one's game. One suggestion that has been made to the Commercial leaguers is that a prize Da onerea the teams playing their full seven Innings in the fastest time during the league season or that a prize be given the teams having the best average time during the entire season. Speed Up the Games. The Idea of this Is to speed ud the games The players were slow In get ting on and off the diamond between the innings last Sunday and the doubleheader dragged along consid erable. It was sir oclock when the second game was finished. The league has , .. w.j .u,... .ivmi; wi una aiju 11 15 announced that Sunday's doublebill will start at 2:15 oclock. "it makes no difference to Welsh whether It Is for a. championship battle or a ten-round contest," said Moy, in discussing the matter, "for he trains just as hard for one as the other. "I have a great deal of regard for Charlie White, but I really think that Johnny Dundee or Benny Leonard would give him as hard a battle as any one I have heard a great deal about Richie Mitchell, the Milwaukee lightweight, but cannot pass judgment on him as I have never seen him In action From what other boxers tell tne who have fought him, there Is no doubt In mv mind that he stands very highly among the lightweights, and no doubt would put up as fine a contest with Welsh as any of them. He Is young and ambitious, and no doubt In a long contest, would give Welsh con siderable trouble. I understand that Mitchell and Welsh are to meet In Mil waukee early in April In a ten-round contest" "Of course I would expect Welsh to optpolnt him. but you never can tell with a young, clever fellow like Mit chell.
