SCHOOL FUNDS TIED UP PENDING DEPOSITORY CHANGE Due to a delay in the transfer of El Paso county's school funds from the old depository, Union Bank & Trust company, to the new depository, the First National bank, payments of per capita school funds by the state of Texas to El Paso county have been tied up since last May. On last ".ear's per capita allotment. $5186 is still unpaid, but the state is ready to make the payment when the de pository matter is settled. Likewise, payments on the current year's allot ment will be tied up. This information Is supplied by the office of the county school superin tendent. Copper stocks were stronger Friday and the tone of the market was much bett'T tha-i on Thursday, but the volume of bus iness was limited, according to advices to Curtlss, Montague & Co.. stocks and bonds. Hotel Sheldon lobby. Rails recovered much of their losses and showed good strength with gains of from one to two points. Industrials were also much stronger and fractionally to three points higher. Mexican Petroleum fea tured with a gain of foar to a high of 82 during the morning. The curb market was firm and active. Shares of the Bullards Peak Silver Mining company made their initial appearance with a good market and transactions at and S . The company's property Is in the famous Black Hawk district near Silver City and was a silver producer prior to 1882 when sliver was demonitlsed. Duncan Mining was also more active dur ing the morning and trading generally in the small mining shares had a healthier tone.
