The con sideration involved in the transac tion was not made public, though Mr. Dallas said that he believed the price paid was the largest: ever para ior oil lands in the Toyah basin It is believed that the purchase by Mr. Dallas was in the Interests of the Columbia Petroleum company, of Canada. Mr. Dallas is authority for the statement that his clients have been making a thorough investiga tion of the Toyah basin as an oil field. "We have satisfied ourselves that oil exists in commercial quantities and we have made up our minds that the develoiH&entB we are about to make will pay." said Mr. Dallas. We are not speculating In lands or deal ing in leases. We are oil producers and believe we have located property which will yield splendid revenues. This sax.e concern is now drilling several tests on its Echols lease. Within the past ten days this company has eompleted ten new wells in the district. The No. 4 on the Anderson tract of the Mitchell Oil company Is making 1400 barrels from a sand picked np at 3041 feet and extending to .053 feet. This is the. company's fourth good well on the tract.
