The new pavilion was opened with the annual masquerade ball, which Is always given for the bene fit of the baby sanitarium. The dance was a greater success in every re spect than ever before. The receipts at the door amounted to $21? and with other donations the total was about 124. Mrs. Winchester Cooley had charge of the decorating and assisted by Mrs. R. W. White. Miss Vilas Sim mons and several others. The dance hall Is large and has two fire places, which were decorated with Jars of yellow wild flowers. The stage, on which were the music and tne mages, was decorated with small Dine trees and large Jars of daisies. The walls and rafters were covered wiia pine dohbiis. The prize for the most original cos tume was given to Miss Emily Greene, who was dressed as a farmers wife. Miss Greene is matron of the baby sanitarium. The prize for the most beautiful costume went to Miss Lucille Slack, who was dressed as a court attendant in a gorgeous cos tume of brocaded satin, and who car ried a tall staff. The children's prize was won by little Christine Allen, who was dressed as a Chinese. Among the children there were many original costumes. Others In Confume. Flower, Are Disappearing. There is much complaint regarding the pulling of flowers on the reser vation. Many have been pulling up wild flowers by the roots, and there are fewer flowers in Cloudcroft this summer than ever before.
