NEW YORK, April 9^—Mrs.
Walter J. Snyder, wife of the ed
itor of "Sports of the Times" who
was found dead in his bath as a
result of four wounds inflicted
by scissors and who has been held
for the killing, declares today
that she had never divorced Sny

with him recently.
Mrs. Snyder said that she mar

that several years later he eloped
with a woman named Jane, re
turning to her after a short time.
His next affair, she said, was an
elopement with Helen Calfield, a
stenographer. After this he at
tempted to become reconciled to
his wife, says Mrs. Snyder, but she
refused to take him back. '
When Snyder's body was found
Mrs. Snyder declared that he had
attempted to embrace her while
she had a pair of seven inch scis
sors in her hand, and received his
fatal wounds in this way.
