Even Stallcup, Robert Montgomery, E. F. Masterson, L. F. Chester made speeches, but Drury was the star of the day with his description of Bryan as the gladiator in the arena at Baltimore. L. F. BREMERTON, July 11.—With a force of more than 1200 men now busy and excellent prospects of more work that will necessi tate the increasing of the number employed to 1500 within the next month or two, A. H. Freerksen, recorder of the board of labor em ployment, reports that the wait ing list of applicants for work at the navy yard is almost depleted. Ten days ago, for the first time in three years, there were no la borers on the waiting list. At present there are only a few, and as ten or fifteen are frequently called for at one time there is a prospect of the list being again exhausted. 'Thin condition Is an Indica tion of prosperity," said Mr. Freerksen, "as we usually have from 'ibi to 400 men on our wait- Ing list i seeking employment. -V "Boilermakers, S angle •>* smiths, machinists and iron worker* of all kinds • are ; scarce ion ; the waiting lists,' with ' more ' work ' com In in and the force constantly 'being In creased. .There is a ' good pros pect that men taken' on [ now will be 'employed! all; year." ;",V- i *„. ;i„-• The average wage for the men needed Is. about $4 a day, the lowest being 2.24 ''■ for . TEE .TACOMA TIMES. Roosevelt progressives will meet In Seattle July 15 to-con fer on action in this state. It is practically certain that the con ference will decide to nominate Roosevelt presidential electors, but will go into the regular re publican primaries on state and county officers. With E. F. Masterson on the democratic ticket and H. B. Dewey on the republican as oan dldates for congressman at lazge, Tacoma ought to be able to Hand at least one of them, and if War burton goes back she would then have two congressmen. This would beat any city of 100,«O0 in the country. R. A. B. Young, candidate for state treasurer, Is an ardent ad vocate of a third ticket by the Roosevelt republicans. If he can get a third ticket he believar lie will have the nomination clinched and he is willing to take hie chanceß on election with the jreg ular republican and the demo cratic candidates, not to mention the socialist and prohibitionist. ■ Wrote Will On Back of Photo • PORTLAND, Ore., July • • II. —As he lay probalbly fa- • • tally wounded on the stage • • of Pantages theater after be- • • ing shot by O.
