CLEAR CUSHMAN BOY "Unavoidable accident," was the verdict yesterday of the cor oner's jury which held Rdwsrd Oushman, Jr., son of U. 8. District Judge Cusbman, blameless for the death of Klmer Nelson. The Nelson boy died of injuries received when he was hit by an auto driven by young Cushman Dec. 30. The evidence showed that Nelson ran into the path of the car so suddenly that it was practically impossible to avoid hitting him, and that Cushman wa. driving at between 15 and 20 miles an hour when the accident happened. MUST REMOVE GUNS WASHINGTON, D. C, Jan. 7. —State officials have ordered two three-inch guns removed from the Italian steamer Oluseppe Verdi which came into port yesterday. Clearance papers have been refused until the liner complys with the U. 8. neutrality laws. An investigation will be made to determine if the gun. were mounted for protection or for warring purposes. O. H. J. SMITH DIES While sitting in an arm chair reading at paper at his home, $11 Broadway, O. J. H. Swift, resident of Tacoma for 29 years, died suddenly yesterday afternoon. He had been suffering from lagrippe for several dsys and had been confined in his home. Swift was deputy D. S. shipping commissioner at this port for 15 years.
