ScekTPcace With Serbia ROME, Jan. 22.—Austria has made fresh overtures for peace with Serbia, following the failure Of negotiations with Montenegro, Athens reported today. An Austrian torpedo boat and hydroplane have been sunk in the Adriatic by a British submarine, advices said. The submarine captured two of the crew of the hydroplane. They were trying to repair their engine when the tor pedo boat fired. The Montenegrins reported the annihilation of an Austrian ie tachment attempting to r.__t their retreat from Scutari. FROZEN ARCTIC FILMED One of the biggest motion pic ture features brought to Tacoma this season has been signed by the new management of the Liberty theater for all of next week. It will be Beverly B. Dobbs' six-part Arctic film, "Atop of the World In Motion." Not only is the film a wonder ful collection of Alaskan and Arctic views, but an educational lecture accompanies it, Mr. Dobbs appearing in person at each per formance and giving a synopsis If the picture. The first Dobbs' pictures of the Frozen North were shown at the Tacoma theater three years ago at advanced prices. Since that time an entirely new film has been made. A trip over the fro/.en wastes behind dog train and reindeers, a visit to the polar bear and wal rus, haunts of the Polar Bea, and a series of unprecedented pic tures taken under the Midnight Sun form part of the exhibit. Mr. Dobbs is the photographer who took the famous motion pic tures, "Four Hours From Taco ma to the Glaciers." He has many personal friends here. The Alas kan section of the long movie will be particularly interesting to Tacomans who have visited that country. CONVICTED OF ATTACK ON GIRL Frank Bran was convicted yes terday by a jury of committing a statutory crime on a 16-year-old girl. The crime of which he was convicted carries a peniten tiary sentence of from one to ten years. DES MOINES PLAN FAILURE, HE SAYS DES MOINES, la., Jan. 22.— The so-calhM Dcs Moines plan of city government, one of the first forms of commission government, which attracted much favorable attention the country over when It was adopted seven years ago, Is branded a failure by Council nan W.
