By Paul Purnian. * THE ANNUAL CLASSIC FOR WORLD TITLE la comparing the offensive or attacking strength of two ball Is not much leas important than clubs the question of base running that of hitting. The club which gets men on liases and can't get them around is,no bettei off than the team that can't get them on. Baserunning today is a highly cultivated art, hut In spite of tho attention paid to it managers have never bean successful In making great base runners out of men who have not the natural ability. Cobb is an example. There are .many men In the league who are faster, but his natural inborn ability makes him the greatest of them all on the paths. Chicago has the greatest base runuer !n this world series in Ed die Collins, than whom there are few better base runners in either league. In this department he outclasses Burns, the best path Amateurs Fi^ht Sunday For the Season's Title Tacomans who like good base ball will have their last chance of the season to see a game Sunday, when the C. & B. — Ideals and Knights of Columbus teams mix at Athletic park for the city amateur title. Theaa teams, representing tho best baseball talent In the city, have wrangled for two months over their relative merits. At last a game has been planned, and the teams have agreed that the con test shall determine which team Is entitled to the season's pennant for Independent teams. Both clubs have won many games this season, and are in prime condition for a hard battle. After Sunday both teams will dis band. If we remember rightly Cobb stole everything but Gibson's glove In the Detroit- Plttsburg series of 1909, but that was an exception.
