MEETING OF BANKERS. Bankers C. W. Winter, Hugh Wad dell and George Burdsal of Colville, F. L. Reinoehl of Chewelah and others representing the different county bank ing interests attended a meeting at Spokane last Sunday of bankers from eastern Washington and northern Idaho. Financial conditions were thoroughly canvassed. Agreement was made that Spokane, Seattle, Tacoma and Portland clearing house checks would be receiv ed in lieu of cash, and the railroads and commercial houses of this section have also assented to this basis for conduct ing business. Previous to the present money stringency about 93 per cent of the county's business was conducted on paper, hence for a short time no great inconvenience is expected in operating to a still further degree on paper. On ly about 20 per cent of the wheat crop has been moved, owing to the inability of buyers to get bank credit. This is now overcome and with the influx of money in payment for this year's great crop a general betterment of financial conditions will result. The extension of the Chicago, Mil waukee & St. Paul railway is to be in full operation from Dakota to Puget Sound by the fall of 1909. The section from St. Joe City, Idaho, westerly to the Columbia river should be in opera tion during 1908, and its magnificent territory getting the full benefit of modern town building and the conse quent benefit of short wagon hauls on merchandise and farm produce. At the meeting of the Washington Good Roads association held at Belling ham this week Kennewick was chosen the seat of the next annual convention. Samuel Hill was unanimously reelected the president of the organization. Re solutions were passed asking for the abolishment of the state highway board and establishing the appointment of a state engineer, also for the passing of a law requiring the use of, a wagon tire not less than three inches wide for wa gons carrying a ton or more. In the matter of the will and estate of Gustav Wendler, deceased. Notice is hereby given that Alius Wendler, as executor of the estate of Gustav Wendler, deceas ed, has rendered and presented for settlement, and filed in said court his final account and report of the administration of said estate, and a petition for the settlement of said account and a distribu tion of said estate, and that Monday, the 16th day of December, A. D., 1907, at 9:30 o'clock at the court room of said court, at the court house in Col ville. in Stevens county, has been duly appointed by said court for the settlement of said account and the hearing of said petition for distribution, at which time and place any person interested in said estate may appear and file his exceptions in writing to the said final account and contest the same and show cause, if any, why the final dis tribution of said estate should not be ordered. Shaver, [seal] Clerk of said Superior court. MINUTES OF MEETING Held at the offices of Jesseph & Grin stead Nov. 9, 1907, for the purpose of nominating a Citizens' ticket. Meeting called to order by B. F. Hammond. Upon motion duly made and seconded, F. Leo Grinstead was elected as chairman to preside over the meeting. Moved, seconded and carried that H. Wade Bailey act as secretary. The chairman stated the purpose of the meeting to be to nominate candi dates to be voted upon at the annual city election to be held on Dec. 3, 1907, the offices to be filled to be three coun cilmen for two years, one councilman for one year and a city treasurer to serve for the term of one year. Nominations being in order George Stenger, W. F. Diffenbacher and F. L. Torrey were nominated as councilmen for the term of two years. F. A. Sav age was nominated as a candidate for councilman for the term of one year. P. R. Parks was nominated as a candi date for city treasurer to serve for the term of one year. No other nomina tions being made, by unanimous vote of the meeting the above persons were nominated as candidates on the Citizens' ticket for such offices. Moved, seconded and carried that the chairman appoint a committee of three with power to fill any vacancies which may occur in the above list of nomina tions.
