Following the wedding Prof. Timblin and bride took the after noon train for Glazier Park, Mon tana, where they will spend several weeks. They will be "at home" ln Spokane after September 16; The bride is too well known to need Introduction to Pullman read- ers. She is a sister of .Mrs. J. H. Weeks and has been a teacher in Pullman schools for several years. For the past two years she has been principal of the Edisou school. Professor Timblin has been with the State College for the past six years and was principal of the sum mer school as well as head of the el ementary department. Stambaugh, which is making a sur vey of the limestone deposits of the state, is to the effect that the work is progressing nicely and will be com pleted about September 20, when the party will return to Pullman. Condition in Western Whitman J. E. Nessly made a trip by auto mobile through the western part of Whitman county Tuesday, visiting St. John, Rock Lake, Willada and Diamond. He says harvest is well under way there and the wheat Is turning out about 25 to 30 bushels per acre. Most of the grain is being cut with headers. There was a heavy rain ln the vicinity of Willada Tues day afternoon and in places it was al most a clouds-burst, flooding the low lands, washing out the roads and rol ling great boulders down the hill sides, while the Pleasant Valley branch of the 0.-W. R. & N. was cov ered with water in several places. The storm covered a narrow strip many miles in length. Christian Science Service*. Tho Herald several weeks ago secured estimates from each of Pull man's grain buyers on th,. opening price of tin- four standard grades' of wheat and offered a $5.00 hat to the buyer whose estimate proved most nearly correct. As Fortyfold Is the only variety that has so far been sold in this city this season nobody yet has a cinch on the head gear. The estimates on Fortyfold ranged from 64 to 74 cents and several of the buyers estimated pretty close to the 66c mark, IT. G. Lawler's guess be ing only half a cent off, and that of T. W. Amos one cent over the mark. The first price paid lor the' other three grades of wheat, however, may change the status of affairs and put some other buyer in the lead, as the dealer whose estimates on Red Rus sian, Club, Fortyfold and Bluestem average closest to the price paid for the first lots of those kinds of grain will be awarded the prize. Timely Arrival Averts Had Blaze The timely arrival on the scene of County Commissioner M. W. Whit low last Saturday probably saved that gentleman a serious loss by fire. Mr. Whitlow had occasion to visit a de serted cabin on his property about two miles east of Pullman and on entering the place discovered a good sized blase. The entire family was pressed into service to carry water and the flames were soon extinguish ed. It Is thought that the fire was started by children who had been playing In the cabin, and but for the arrival of Mr. Whitlow a serious fire would undoubtedly have resulted, as the cabin is located near a large grain field.
