E. society of he' l. P. church par ticipated in a very pleasant social time at ihe home of Mr. W. S. Neil about two mile's south on the John son road. The party had a delight ful ride out, leaving the church at 7:15 In two hayracks. After arriv ing ai the- ranch a Few games, some music and refreshments were en joyed, The Rev. Dr. Spalding dis missed them. Dr. and Mrs. Spalding and Mrs. Pfeiffer acted as chaperons. Mrs. J. E. Laird and Mrs. A. C. The City Council of the City of Pullman, do ordain as follows: Section 1. That the name of Main Avenue from the west line of lot 16, block 9, to the east line of lot 11, block 7. in Campus Park Addition to Pullman, be and the same Is hereby changed to College Avenue. Section 2. That the name of Col lege Avenue in Campus Park Addi tion to Pullman, be and the same is, hereby changed to Adams Street. Section 3. All Ordinances and parts of ordinances In conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section -i. SCHOOLS County School Superintendent Bus bey has sent out the following letter to the grade school teachers of the county, pertaining to the county-wide spelling contest: "I wish to call your attention again to the county-wide spelling contest, which will be conducted this year and to urge that every Sixth, Seventh and Eighth grade teacher take active Interest In this work, if yon read the bulletin sent out earlier In the year, you understood that the time spent upon the regular spelling les son during the year will fit pupils to enter this contest since the lists of words selected are the regular spell ing lists In the Merrill speller. ' Arrangements have been mauw whereby a gold watch will be offered for first prize In the county contest and a Eastman kodak for the second. Both of these prizes will he suitable for a boy or girl. I have received many interesting letters from teach ers and district chairmen, announc ing their intention of taking part and stating tlie prises to be offered lo- ally." Schools entering the contest will first hold a local speeling match, the winners to represent the school In a sectional contest to be held at some central point two weeks before the teachers' institute.
