FARMING IS A BUSINESS Mans people can remember when their mothers used to card and spin the wool from their own sheep. "Homespun" made popular clothes In those days each farm was more Independence from the rest of the world than is the case today. 'I hen crops were traded for other commod ities, grain was hauled to the grist mill and ground up, the resulting meal, flour, etc., hauled home. Lit tle money was used or seen. Money was buried in the back yard, banks were under suspicion. Today how many people in America card and spin wool? How many of the old grist mills survive? How much money is hoarded and buried? Times have changed. Now the Washington farmer is too busy raising crops' to feed war-devastated Europe and run ning his farm to bother trying to raise and grow everything he needs. He would rather buy flower and meal and pay the middleman's profit than to bother to haul his grain to - grist mill, even if the grist mill ex isted. .Money is not buried as of yore; it is invested in farms, live stock, bonds, stock, and other ways ♦here it win bring la a revenue. Times have (hanged, farming lias be come a business, FOR SALE—Monarch range. in very good condition.
