Page Two Neighborhood News ALBION Mrs. Lawson returned from Mon tana last week, where she atiended la some business. Mrs. Sarah Marquis went to Mos cow last Friday to visit relatives In that vicinity. Albert Peever of Hooper was In town over the week-end. Mrs. Schumaker uf Pullman was the gue?st of Mrs. Lawton last Sat urday and Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Walker of Moscow visited at the home of George Kerr last Sunday.- Mr. and Mrs. McCaw of Colfax vis lied Mr. McCaw's sister. Mrs. C. M. Johnson, the last of the week. Mr. Moys and family were shop ping in Spokane lefts! Saturday. A number a "tended the dance giv en last Thursday. Music was fur nished by the Mann brothers of Col fax. Misses Edith Starr and Jeanette Clark of Moscow were visitors in this vicinity last week. Miss Neva Johnson, who is em ployed in Pullman, spent Sunday under the parental roof. Mr. Dobson is moving his furni ture into the old hotel building be fore leaving with Mrs, Dobson for Clarkston. Among the Albion people who vis ited Colfax last Saturday were: Mr. and Mrs. Chambers, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Huff and family, Mr. and Mrs. Nichols, Naomi and Elma John son, Clara Edinburgh, Mayellen Flas ket, Mr. Parks and Mrs. O'Dell and family. Mr. French, a carpenter, has been busy for the last week at Colfax. Rally day proved to be a grand success in Albion last Sunday. The weather was ideal for a parade which consisted of Mr. Bryan big truck loaded with the singers and 20 other cars decorated with penants, flags, and streamers. Aftorwhich the pro motion exercises were held at the M. B. church. Another of these auto caprices, this time a broken hub, occurred to mar the happiness of a theatre party, Mr .and Mrs. Nichols, Miss Naomi Johnson and Ben Manning returning to Pullman on foot through a rain storm early Wednesday morning, Fortunately they were- only two miles out of tiwn. School Note's Tho high school student body held its election la.it week and the fol lowing officers were chosen: Mar tha Kerr, president; Loy Naffziger vice president; Hazel Simpson, sec rotary and treasurer; Emery ("reign ton, yell master. The school houses have taken on another appearance these days due to the enterprise of the directors Tbe buildings have new paper anc kalsomine, with trimmings in painl an an added feature, and with tilings being put in shape by Mr. Kroll, the janitor, the schoolhouses will be made very attractive. it is contem plated now to dig a ditch from the grade building to the high si hoo! building and if anyone in the com' munity wishes to try their muscle they may bring a shovel upon that day and try it out. The domestic science girls will serve lunch to those who help, it is to be hoped. Principal Thornton spent Saturday in Spokane, where he went to pur chase books for the school library, also to see about some other supplies Tor the school. While there he pur chased about ',11 books for tin- li brary. Mr. Coleman, who used to lie the principal here, was in town last Sat urday as a business caller. Mrs. Taylor entertained the pupils 111 her room at her home last Friday afternoon. Miss Tuttle was a Pullman visitoi last Saturday. The senior class elected as its of ficers for the year: Loy Naffziger president; Beulah Hittle, secretarj and treasurer. Mr. and Mrs, John Poo have sold their farming Interests near Tekoa, and arrived here the last of the week with their household goods. They expect to rent » farm in this vicinity. Wilbur Henry has purchased a new motor truck. The Coolidge & McClaino auction sub was attended by the largest crowd of the season. Good prices were obtained. Mules were in big demand. Mr. Meiaer has purchased ten head of work mules from Mr. Laurance. JOHNSON Ed Lamm, who sold his ranch southwest of town recently, has leased the residence property In Johnson known as the Ernest Lede mann place from F. W. Hooper, the present owner, and will move into it soon. Mrs T. L. Neely has received word from her son, Harold Haynes, stat ing that he is now at the Bremerton navy yard and that he expects to be released from further service. As soon as he receives his discharge, he expects to come dlrctly horn, Offman Mclnturff is at home this week with his parents, J. I. Mcln tiirlf and wife. He has been grant ed a 30-day furlough and at the end of his vacation he will return to duty at San Francisco, Calif. Arthur and Philip Miles, who are tending college at Pullman this year, visited their sister, Miss Alice Miles, in Johnson last Sunday. P. W. Hooper and family visited last Sunday afternoon at the home of his sister, Mrs. D. W. Woodward, and family in Genesee, Ida. A. O. White came to this com munity last Sunday afternoon for a short visit among his former friends and acquaintances, lie re cently returned from Alberta, where 'he and bis two sons, Burri.tt and Luther, have extensive property in terests. Miss Lillian Schlueter, from near Genesee, Ida., visited early this week at the home of L. T. Habcock and family in Johnson.. Rev. Allen, a returned missionary from Persia, will address the people of Johnson at the Presbyterian Church next Sunday forenoon. An interesting discourse is promised as he came recently from that country. J. 1. Mclnturff left for Spokane on' Monday of this week, where he Intended to take treatment for some kind of increasing illness. He re ceived a message while there that his son, Offman, who is in the Unit ed States navy, had arrived home on a furlough, and immediately re turned. Later he will go again and perhaps may go to Rochester, Minn., jto receive expert treatment at the MayO brothers' sanitarium. W. J. Davis has purchased the • house formerly occupied by Sam Ailor and Avery Mclnturff is mov ing it to its new location. At the regular religious services held last Sunday in the Presbyterian church the following persons were chosen to represent that congrega tion in community work: Charles Gray. Mrs. \\ J. Davis. Mrs. Ollie ; Harper, N. E. Wiggins and L. T. Babcock. These persons will co operate with a like number of com mitteemen from the Christian church. On Friday evening of last week the Ford touring car driven by Mrs. | Hill, wife of tin- Johnson merchant, turned over on the Beckett bill j northeast cf town. The- top was de molished and the occupants of the car received slight bruises and scratches, but otherwise no damage was done. BANNER C. T. Miss Hazel Ethredge was given a surprise birthday party Sunday after noon by the pupils of the Rose Creek school. Airs. C, W.
