Page Two Neighborhood News JOHNSON At a meeting of the allied church committee in the Christian church last Sunday afternoon, it was prac tically decided to hold community Thanksgiving services in the school auditorium. After these are over the girls of the high school will serve dinner at a nominal cost per plate, tin- proceeds to go Into a piano fund. The people of town and surround-I ing country are asked to assist in repairing the sidewalks next Satur day. Sufficient money has been col lected by the committee in charge of that business and a little work by each person will put the walks in good condition. Charles Davis, whose home is In the Canal Zone, Panama, visited In Johnson last Sunday the guest of Lester Babcock. Tho young man is a student In the engineering depart ment of the State College and has j many interesting things to say of the climatic conditions and of the j people where he has made his home j for the past 11 years. . A cast of characters has been se-! lected and work begun on a play entitled "Won by Wireless," which will bo given the evening before Thanksgiving, proceeds to go into the high school piano fund. Farmers are rejoicing on account of the heavy rainfall of the past two weeks. The soil is becoming thor oughly soaked which will make fur ther fall seeding possible if the weather becomes suitable, and will i start the grain that has already been sown. Mrs. Maude Maynard is in Clarks ton taking treatment this week for some kind of cancerous growth on her face.' Her father waa seriously ill when she went there but is much better. J. I. Mclnturff and wife will go to Spokane in a few days, where he will take treatment for an increasing illness with which he has been af flicted. His son, Henry, and wife of Rosebud, Alberta, are visiting him this week. Asa Ailor. whose frontal bone of the skull was crushed recently and who was taken, to a Moscow hospital for treatment, is at home and is re covering slowly. Lee Maxwell has bought the resi dence property recently owned by Mrs. Matheney and will occupy it as his home. With it he also bought a 40-acre tract of land which lies at the foot of Bald Butte east of town. He harvested about 12,000 bushels of grain off 400 acres the past sea eon. The three teachers, Miss Miles, Miss Bishop and Miss Barber, are now comfortably located in the Fer guson residence near the school house. Avery Mclnturff went to Garfield last Saturday and brought back an auto load of household goods for Miss Bishop. All soldiers and sailors are asked to attend the community celebration in honor of the armistice and tho admission -of the state of Washing on Into the Union, in uniform next ; Tuesday evening. Suitable exercises commemorative of the great events' will be held. The basketball boys of the local high school are working hard these days to bring themselves to a state of efficiency in playing the game ready for lnterscholastie games when the season opens later on. Clyde Mclnturff, son of A. R. Mc lnturff, is at home permanently, having been recently released from further service in the United States navy. ALBION Mrs. Oliver Ullery arlved from j Denton, Mont., last Saturday to visit j her sister, Mrs. O. I. Hittle. Miss Sarah Tuttle visited relatives] over Saturday at Asotin. a large number of football fans] from here saw the game between W. 8. C. and U. of I. Saturday. A basket social will be given SI the high school gymnasium one wees from Friday, November 14. The! money is to be used toward the pur chasing of a piano for the school. ! Johnson has moved into town for the winter so that his children may have the ad vantages of attending school here. Mrs. A. P. Miller spent the week end visiting her sons and daughters at Colfax. Property has been changing bands rapidly in Albion the last week its the following record goes to show: The Sherrill property to Mr. Dodson, the Dunnagen home to Mr. Jennings, and the Wolf property to Dan Kroll. Three new pupils enrolled in the school last Monday morning. A number of people attended the afternoon meetings of the Bulgin'i troup in Colfax last Sunday. ROSE CREEK .Mrs. Andy Rodeen and grandson, Wilbur, visited friends In Moscow a few days last. week. The Hallowe'en social at the Rose Creek schoolhouse Friday evening was a success In every way. Ever;-/ one entered Into the usual Hallowe'en stunts and all enjoyed the refresh ments, Which were eider, cookies, doughnuts, popcorn balls and apples. William A. Olson was brought home from the Northwest Sanitar ium Sunday afternoon by Mr. For rest and Mr. Allen, He is slowly re gaining his strength. Little Marvin Kinder has been quite ill for a few days, but is now improving. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Benedict spent Wednesday with Mr. Benedict's sis ter, Mrs. T. O. Fink, and family near Albion. Miss Beatrice McDonald of Grange vllle, Ida., who is attending the Sis ters' school in Colfax, spent the week-end with her cousin, Mrs. Stan ley Newell, and family and her aunt, Mrs. S. G. Newell. Mr. and Mrs. Andy Rodeen enter tained the following guests on Sun day: Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Calloway and son, Russel, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Taylor and children, and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Parr and children. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Benedict at tended Sunday school at Banner and afterwards took dinner with their daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Reid. \ The continued rain* and snows are putting the roads in such bad condition that there is very little news. EWARTSVILLE Mr. and Mrs. ('. O. Kellogg expect to leave the last of this week for Cal ifornia to reside. Mrs. Kellogg may be with her son, Joe Kineaid, in Spo kane for a few days or until he is able to accompany her. Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Davidson and two little sons called on Mr. and Mrs. L. R. CLINTON The Hallowe'en party held at the Clinton Grange hall was a success. After a short program games suit able to the occasion were played. Alter supper they danced and then went home, all saying they had en-1 joyed themselves. The party began In October and ended in November. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Purnell and' family and Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Pro-1 cunier were visitors at the A. Woods > home Sunday. Miss Gladys Benedict Is assisting Mrs. W. H. Wolfe with her sewing. Church services will be held every 1 Sunday night at 7:30 at the Clinton Grange hall. it is hoped that a bet ter attendance will be present next Sunday, as last Sunday it was poor.; Mr. and .Mrs. F. Eldredge gave a supper Friday evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. P. Petersen and iamily, who are now residing in .Moscow. Mr. and Mrs. Aug. Anderson and O. E. An derson were also present. H. H. Curtis is making new im provements at his farm home re cently purchased. He is adding a bathroom and concrete cellar. Mrs. H. H. Curtis received word Saturday of the death of her grand mother at Athena, Oregon. Last week Mrs. S. A. Jacobson lost her hand bag, which contained Quite a. sum of money. Fortunately it was found by J. W. Darland. This Friday evening an "Open Forum" meeting will be held in the schoolhouse. I. W. W.'ism and other live problems of the day will be dis cussed under the leadership of J. D. Carson. A large crowd is desired so every one is invited to be there. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lawson visited at the Enos Naffzi&er home. Mr. and Mrs. W. XV. Cochran took Sunday dinner at the Worley Hately home. Rev. J.
