On Model 1 90 . there are two oil try cocks on left side of crankcase. Oil level should never be above the upper try cock and should not be allowed to get below the lower one. On Model Xl!. oil level mi,me consists of a metal: rod, which can be withdrawn from the left side of crankcase. Oil level ' should never in- above "full" mark ! on this rod, and best results will be obtained it the oil level is main tained between "full" and "half full" marks on the gUSge To get a cor rect reading of the oil level guage, the automobile should be approxi mately level and the engine not run ning. When engine is running the Oil pressure indicator on dash should show pressure which will vary with the speed and temperature of the engine. If no pressure is registered, I every 750 miles, the oil in the crank case, oil pump not Working properly, or some obstruction of break in oil passages. The engine should im mediately be Stopped and the trou ble located and remedied. At regular Intervals, as recom mended by the manufacturer, or, In j the abesnee of such instructions, j every 750 miles, the oi lin the crank case reservoir should be entirely re newed in the following manner: First, remove drain plug in bottom of crankcase, allowing all old oil to drain. This should preferably be done when engine Is warm, as the old oil when healed will drain faster, and less of it will adhere to the In ner surfaces of the crankcase. Next, replace drain ping and pour four 1 quarts of Calol flushing oil Into crankcase through filler pipe. Then start and operate the engine under its own power at a moderate Idling speed for from one to two minutes, by which time all oil passages and inner surfaces will have been cleansed by the action of the flush ing oil. Again remove drain plug and when certain that crankcase is thoroughly drained. replace plug and refill crankcase reservoir with fresh Zerolene oil as specified. Ap proximately five quarts of oil are re quired for Model 1-90, and six quarts for Model PB. When filling the res ervoir through filler pipe, care should be taken that no foreign mat ter is carried Into the engine with the fresh oil. Valve ! Rocker Anns——ll. Daily, or every 100 miles, put a few drops of rolene No. 6 in end of each valve rocker arm which car ries an oil felt, and a few drops of I oil on each rocker arm center hear ing. At the same time a few drops | of oil should be squirted on each of the valve stems. Electric Starting Motor—!>—J. Every 1000 miles use squirt can to \ apply a few drops of Zerolene No. 5 through oil holes to armature j shaft hearings. Also supply a few drops of oil to motor pinion shaft. Electric Generator—7—<;. Every j 250 miles use squirt can to apply a : few drops of Zerolene No. 5 through oil holes to armature shaft bearing. Clutch—lo—L. If the clutch is | slipping because of greasy or gum- j my condition of the leather, it should be thoroughly Unshed with kerosene! With the engine run- j nitiL'. the clutch pedal should be worked back and forth to allow the j kerosene to cut anil dislodge this greasy deposit. A small quantity of i auto leather clutch oil should then be applied to th". leather If the! clutch is inclined to grab by reason of the leather; being hard or dry, apply a little auto.leather clutch oil to the leather. This application of oil to the leather can best be ac complished by blocking the clutch pedal about half-way down The clutch cone can then be revolved by hand and the oil' applied to the leather at several points. Further turning of the clutch cone will dis tribute the oil over its entire sur face. Clutch Th'rowout Collar (Model 190 only)—'_<». Every 250 miles fill oil reservoir on top of clutch collar with fresh Zerolene transmission lubricant "A," using filler with small enough spout to carry oil through oil hole in lop plate of reservoir. Clutch Hub Model FB only) —K. Every 250 miles remove oil plug In clutch hub and fill compartment in hub with fresh Zelolene transmission lubricant "A," using oil gun to in ject oil through opening Access to plug may be bad by removing hand hole cover on top of clutch housing, and revolving clutch until plug is uppermost. Steering Gear Rousing—lS—AA. Every 500 miles remove grease plug in housing at base of steering column : and with grease gun fill housing with Zerolene cup grease. Steering (■'oar Drag I,ink— -, 1!) — V, Z. Every 500 miles remove? plugs from each end of drag link and re pack ball and socket joints with fresh Zerolene cup grease. Truiismisison —— >l. Every 500 miles remove .oil level pin;.'; on side of transmission case, and, if no oil runs out. use oil gun to Inject fresh Zerolene transmission lubricant "A' until it begins to overflow through opening. Then replace plug. Every 2000 miles remove drain plug from bottom of case and allow all old oil to drain. Then remove cover and wash all gears, shafts and interior of case with Pearl oil (ke.*) sene). When transmission is clean ami thoroughly drained, replace drain plug and till to correct level with fresh lubricant. Rear A vie Housing—lT —^Q. Every 500 miles remove oil level plug in rear of housing, and, if no oil runs out, use oil gun to inject fresh Zerolene transmission lubricant "A" until it begins to overflow through opening. Then replace plug. Every 2000 miles remove drain plug from bottom of housing and al low all old oil to drain. Replace drain plug and pour Into housing through filling hole two quarts of Pearl oil (kerosene), .lack up one rear wheel clear of the ground, start engine, and spin rear wheel at mod erate speed for about two minutes. This operation will dislodge all re maining oil, dirt and sediment. Next, disengage gears stop engine, and remove jack Again remove drain plug, and, after case has been thoroughly dra'nod, replace plug mil refill with fresh lubricant to correct level Note: As bearings in both trans mission and rear axle are ci iii ely lubricated by splash from ievolving gears, hard grease should never he used as a lubricant in either place. Front Wheel Bearing! I. 21—E, V. Every 2000 miles remove front wheels and wash bearings and hubs thoroughly with Pearl oil ' kero sene). Repack hubs and hearings with fresh Zeroh cup grease and replace wheels, being careful to get proper adjustment on wheel bear ings'. Springs—<>, ! i. ill, _!> —<*. \. S. EB. Every r>oo miles, er whenever springs squeak. 1 'an off all dirt and old oil nd apply a a najl quan tity of Standard Household Lubri cant along the edges of spring leaves. A small brush may bo used for this purpose, or the oil applied by means iof Standard Household Lubricant i handy can with spout' attached. Grease Cups.
