Friday, September L 1918 What It Is and Why THE UNITED WAR WORK CAMPAIGN scheduled for the week of November 11 to 18 has been authorized by the American Government for the purpose of raising sufficient funds to support the splendid work of the following great organizations: "Seven in Name But One in Aim" Hitherto these organizations have conducted separate campaigns to raise funds to sustain their great and good work on behalf of our soldiers and sailors. The War Department and the President have officially authorized a joint campaign for the purpose of raising This fund will be distributed, under Governmental Supervision among the organizations mentioned above in accordance with their needs in the services rendered. As you know, these great agencies are performing an incalculable service along the battle fronts and behind the lines for our soldiers and sailors —a service that promotes the comfort, contentment, and effi ciency of our fighting men —a service that is absolutely necessary and for which we would be taxed if these agencies were not performing it voluntarily and excellently.
