He accompanied Genera] MacArthur and the liberating forces in the in vasion of ’Leyte and later in the recapture of Manila. Pulitzer Prize Winner In 1942, General Romulo won the Pulitzer Prize in Journalism for distinguished correspondence, a series of articles written on a trip through tdhe Far East just before the war. He had been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize of 1951 and 1953. 15th Honorary Degree The honorary degree he will re ceive on May 30 from Portland University will be the fifteenth he will have merited,——awarded in a period of time from 1935 to the present. Romulo was first confer red the honorary degree of Doctor Laws by Notre Dame University, jointly with the late President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, in 1935. His latest was the degree of Doctor of Humanitarian Ser vice from Temple University‘ (Philedelphia) on February 19, 1953. J General Romulo is a graduate of the University of the Philippines (1918), and of Columbia Univers ity (MA. 1921). Bamboo Magazine To Resume Publication By Fred Gordova. Editor, Bamboo Magazine Bamboo Magazine will re sume publication by the first of fiugust, it was announced by its editors in Seattle. Although temporary suspension was not made public, the maga zine stopped .printing operations last February. Subscribers and ad vertisers were notified of the plans after the sudden resignation of Doroteo V. Vite as business mana ger of the magazine to go into private business of his own. In the meantime, the young pub lication received the distinguished merit award in the sth annual Advertising Art Exhibition of the Art Directors Group Seattle last April.
