Piatt had been suffering for a long time with a dropsical affection of the heart, and this caused his death. For the past month he grew steadily worse and was unable to He down. Early this morning the suffering man started up town to get a flask of whiskey, which he had been taking us a tonic. He entered a saloon and after having his bottle filled, took a drink at the bar. He turned as he set down the empty glass and fell lifeless to the floor. Dr. C. J. Smith was summoned, but ''the man was dead before he arrived.
