One hog weighing 650 pound! brought Its owner $56.90 In the local market today and severnl brought over $40 a heud. These remarkable prtcea were obtained by the Burko Commission, company for the first shipment of hogs that ever came from Tillamook to this city so far us the local market Is aware of. The ship ment was made by J. 1). Jones of Tillamook and the arrivals came In on the Iteamer Argo. A total of 93 head were received from there on the boat. In general there is a shade" of easi ness In the h''g market at the moment and values are down -5c for the day. These same hogs would have brought up to $9 In the open market here lust I week because .if the better feeling at I that time but the receivers lecured the best price available at this time. I Nothing over $8.75 can be secured at the moment. Recent BiHnw in the East, Some slight easiness has been shown by eastern hog values of late and this lias Influenced local conditions to a I considerable extent. While it Is quite probable that hog values will not I move higher at this time; there does not seem to be any seriousness In the .-. nation and values are expected to I rule rather steady with probably a 1 ncesalon in value here and there If tlie quality Is not up to top notch. Today's run of hogs was 196 head compared with 188 Saturday, 166 Fri day, 135 Thursday, 60 Wednesday, 1T9 Tuesday and 48 head last Mon day. sheep Finn with no Arrivals. over Sunday there were no arrivals of sheep In the Portland yard and In edhaeqUenc the market Is disposed to how more firmness than during re- j cent days. While values show prac tically no change from the figure;- In effect during the previous six days buvera seem more Inclined to take hold than at that time and the future looks somewhat better. I'at lambs continue In best request with top values still obtainable If the quality Is shown. The growing Importance of the veal market causes the trade to pay more attention to that line than formerly. Market for calves Is In excellent shape with the run much smaller than de mand and top prices cnBlly main tained. In general the cattle market Is very good today and demand continues as during the previous week. Good stuff Is hnrd to obtain however, and killers are forced to take the poor quality against their will. Run of cattle In the yards today was 266 head compared with 41 Saturday, 750 Friday, 596 Thursday, 228 Wed nesday. 319 Tuesday and 96 head a week ago. Among the Shippers. J. D.
