Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Nuzum and Mr.
and Mrs. O. C. Jensen were the week
end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank R.
Culbertson at their summer home on
L.oon Lake.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd E. Gandy mo
tored to Seattle last week. Accom
panying them were their son and
daughter, Joseph and Miss Ellen Mar
garet, and Kenneth Smiles, who has
been their house guest this summer
and who was a classmate of young
Gandy's at the University of Michigan.
The three young people will be enter
ing the University of Washington this
fall, Miss Gandy as a freshman and
Mr. Gandy and Mr. Smiles as first
year students in the law school.
Mrs. Lyman Whittier (Miss Sarah
McClintock) returned to Yakima last
Wednesday after a fortnight's visit
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. O.
McClintock, EHOS Rockwood Boule
vard. Mr, and Mrs. Whittier will make
their home in Yakima this winter.

again be the scene of the fortnightly
bridge and mah jong luncheon on
Thursday, September 30, when Mrs.
Ray Wilson and Mrs. Walter Leu
thold will act as hostesses.
Miss Helen Hart, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Henry M. Hart, is leaving
Thursday morning for Seattle, where
she will take up graduate work at the
University of Washington. Miss Hart
received the degree of Bachelor of
Arts at Vassar College, Poughkeepsie,
N. Y., two years ago.
Miss Hart's brother, Henry, after
his graduation from Harvard last
June, received the honor of the Shel
don traveling fellowship which com
prises a year of independent travel
abroad. Most recent communication
from Mr. Hart was postmarked Gene
va, Switzerland, where he was inter
ested in the sessions of the League of
Nations,
A meeting of the members of the
Junior League of Spokane has been
called for Friday morning in the as
sembly room of the Old National Bank
building. Further plans for the Ju
nior League Follies of 1926 will be
discussed.
The So-So Club, an intimate group
of friends who have served together
since girlhood days, entertained for
Miss Arta Scroggin on Friday, bidding
her farewell on her departure for the
south. Mrs. H. E. Hall, El3lß Seven
teenth avenue, was hostess, assisted
by Mrs. Reginald Tompkins, Those
present were Miss Scroggin, Mrs. T.
W. McGuire, Mrs. Henry Beisen, Mrs.
C. E. Bree, Mrs. George J. Loquvam,
Mrs. D. H. Luby, Mrs. Henry Hogue,
Miss Lola Eden and Miss Bess Myers.
