Magness iic Company’s cold drink stand and billiard hall and took charge Monday. Mr. Magness will buy cotton seed until the first of the year, when he expects to move to Newport and open a sa loon. Another freight wreck occurred at Batesville Sunday morning, the unlucky train being the Red Ball freight again, which jumped the track at the same place where the wreck occurred last week. The ! wreck was caused by a broken 1 rail. The damage was light. The farmer is beginning to mar ket his crops, and in this year of plenty will have greater need than ever of a good bank in which to deposit his funds. Aiken, a well known traveling man who formerly lived at Sul phur Rock and was well known in this city, but who now lives at Gasville, attempted suicide at his ' home last Friday. He used a raz | or and cut several gashes on his I throat, but was unsuccessful in the attempt to end his life.
