If you get a statament or a ‘■dun" from The Journal, don't get mad and threaten to lick the editor, but come in and pay up like an honest man. If you would come in and see the “duns” we get on the first of each month for the paper, type, ink. etc., which we must buy and pay for in order to send you The Journal, you would realize that we must do some collecting our selves in order to pay these bills. And the people we owe won't take a hard luck story and wait on us to pay, either. The cash must be forthcoming or they tell us very promptly that we don't get any more goods from them and they’ll institute legaI proceedings to collect the bill. Don't look on the bright side of any thin <r. Don't permit yourself to see good in anyone. Don't have any char ity for your erring brother or sister. If you have any of the milk of human kindness in your heart, curdle it in some way. Believe that all men, and women too, are liars, and the truth is not in them. Find fault with your fellowman. Say mean things about your neighbor; envy her; hate her; seek your own: scrap if you don’t get it; think evil; rejoice in iniquity: en dure nothing; believe nothing, and if you are not completely miserable and unhappy it is because you have not yet quenched the last vital spark of love in your being. Evil of Too Much Reading. A bookish man, says Dr. Wiliam Osier, may never succeed. Deep versed in books, he may not be able to use his knowledge to practical ef fect; or, more likely, his failure is not because he has read too much, but observed too little.
