Mrs. Claude M. ErwirTgave a violet luncheon Tuesday in hon or of Miss Hal Phillips and her bridal party. The fact that the hostess and bride-elect were college chums made the delightful occasion doubly interesting. For the luncheon the color scheme in the dining room was ! violet and green, and was ex quisite in every detail. The massive mahogany tabl e , resembled a fairy’s dream, with its sparkling cut glass and solid silver tastefully arranged for : the ten places of the bridal | guests. The violet idea could not have been more perfectly carried out. The plate doilies and large center pieces were the finest linen, embroidered in vio lets, and the china was of the same popular design. For the center decoration of the table was a large cut glass bowl of fresh violets, resting upon a mirrored plaque. This was fur ther carried out by bells, which will soon ring out for the im portant occasion, being placed at the four corners of the table, and from them to the chandelier above were violet and green ribbons which culminated in broad ribbon bows, which, with their long strearq^rs, reached the center decorations of the table. The room was darkened and artificial lights from the chande lier and two golden candlesticks made a picture which pen can _i. j_ A unique feature were the place cards, which were violets in hand-painting, with questions engraved, ail to be answered with the letters from which the word violet is spelled. The one guessing the most questions was given a pretty hand-painted vase filled with violets. To dis tinguish the place of the bride to-be a larger score card, repre senting a bride in bridal attire, and tied with white violets, was a distinctive feature. An elaborate luncheon of five courses was served, and brought ! to a close one of the most de i lightful of many pre-nuptial ; events. The luncheon served consisted ■ of cream of tomato soup; | second, baked fish, cheese balls, peanut sandwiches, fruit salad in orange baskets, tied with vio let and green ribbon; third, roast turkey, olives, celery, cranber i ries, french peas, creamed po tatoes, hot rolls; fourth, brick cream, which was in purple and green layers, cake of the same colors; fifth, coffee, cheese straws, peppermints. Supreme Court Record. j The state supreme court on | Monday passed upon the follow ' ing cases of interest to people of this section: 5608-Southern Cotton Oil Co. vs. James Spotts, Jackson Cir cuit court; appellee given to December 15 to tile brief. 5553-J. M. Jones, et ah. vs. WHY KIDNEY DISEASE IS DANGEROUS. Neglect of the First Warning Symp toms is the Prime Cause of so Many Deaths from the Dreaded Bright’s Disease. it is Easily Curable in the Early Stages. Kidney diseases are so destructive to human life because they do not manifest alarming symptoms until the constitu tion is seriously weakened and the strength exhausted. Then, too often, the remedies employed by many physi cians are of indifferent or doubtful value, and the patient rapidly sinks under the disease. The wisest course is to apply a reliable kidney and liver remedy on the first appearance of the symptoms. A little uneasiness in the small of the back, digestive troubles, bowel irregularities and disorder in the urinary organs are matters of small moment in the estima tion of strong men and women, yet they have a serious ineaning. They show clearly that the kidneys are suffering and need help, which must be forth coming at once to prevent serious, per haps fatal consequences. A few doses of Prickly Ash Bitters at this time would prove of incalculable value in restoring the weakened organs to health. An investment of one dollar in a bottle of Prickly Ash Bitters when the disease is yet in the early stage will save hundreds of dollars in doctor’s bills, besides the suffering that would surely followshould the disease be allowed to fasten itself in the body. The excellent curative power of Prickly Ash Bitters is not confined to the first stages of kidney disease. It is equally efficacious in severe or chronic cases. Physicians have used it as a last resort, in cases that defied their best efforts, with the most brilliant results, and it-has shown its superiority over the many so-called kidney cures, now being loudly advertised, in instances innu merable. Accept no substitute. Insist on having the genuine Prickly Ash Bitters with the large figure 3 in red ou the front label. Sold at Drug Stores, SI .00 iper bottle. State of Arkansas, J. E.
