Ed Sharp, who has been quite ill for some weeks at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Smith on Riene street, is so far recovered as to be able to be out and left Tuesday with his father. J. H. Prof. John Trainer was in Saturday from his home near Dallas and arrang ed to have the weekly Star sent to three Illinois friends whom he says are figuring on coming to Polk county. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Crawford and children arrived Tuesday from Louis burg, KS'. They are old friends of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Proctor and expect to locate here for Mrs. Crawford's health. Mrs. Emma Denton, who has been visiting her daughter Mrs. M. F. Lead erman, left Thursday for her home at Huntington. She was accompanied by Mrs. Leaderman who will visit her for a while. George W. Chaffee and son, George W. Jr., of Oklahoma City, arrived Fri day night and left Saturday for the American Slate Company’s quarries, in which they are interested. They are contemplating moving to Mena to make their home. The Rev. William Cooksey arrived in Mena Tuesday for the purpose of moving his family to their new home in Newport, where he has been en gaged by the Baptist church. They expect to leave here early next week. George Bending of Guthrie, Ok., who owns some farm land east of Mena re turned home Friday after a week’s stay here. He goes away a booster for this section of Arkansas and states that he is coming back and will bring others with him. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Bowen of Pitts burg, Kas., who have been here for several weeks enjoying Mena climate, |retumed Tuesday morning to theii home. Mr. Bowen says that if he can sell his Pittsburg interests he soon will return here to become a citizen. R. L. Fink and J. M. Cochran, here for several days from Boulder, Colo, left Tuesday for Carthage, Mo Mr. Cochran made a deal while here for a 160 acre farm a few miles nortl west of Mena, known as the Chern farm.
