People of Montgomery county are vitally interested in the race for prosecuting attorney in this district, as will be shown by the foilowlnc editorial taken from the front page of the Montgomery County Times, which Is reprinted herewith, headlines rvid all, just as U appears in the current issue: ‘ Were off! "Montgomery County in the Judi I ctal race through Prosecutor Wood’s I Cupidity. •Universaiiy regreued a harmony * agreement was not arrived at by which the judicial office* could have been made to rotate satisfactory for both counties. “Wood’s cupidity has upset the preily Haris of Montgomery and Gar. land counties from being a unit in tl»« desire for fair political stand ins, The opposition of Wood, the chief factor i»t killing our propost. Don In regard 10 the Eighteenth Ju.il. cia! District will undoubtedly become » sling by which he will slay himself and he ought to have remembered he was prosecuting attorney by apwlnt metit arid he ought to have had sense enough Do know- that Hlonaghey's Vines are so badly singed that *t 1 l« more than probable he will never be able to recognize him again as a good angel, even though the gods would like to decree it. “His alternate thought should have been strong with the people. But some insane germ made him under rate their value We regret Woods bad move—it Is a misfortune—at least for us, to have to look forward to the political battles we will have tc fight among our friends, when they could have bean avoided. Howev er. the great race is on with al! candidates off, and each fully con ft dent In himself of being the win. ner. The contestants are: Gibson Witt Thurtosn P. Farmer, M, S, Cobh Geo. P. Whittington and J. B. Wood A report, in the Sentinel-Record writ ten by Wood, of what he said befort She Garland county Central Commit tee Is humorous, and that learned lawyer simply made matters wora« by Inferring the agreements we (ft* sired was not right. The agreemen certainly was right; and one whiol the majority of the voters In botl counties would have endorsed had it been approved of by the Garlam County Central Committee ‘‘When Wood cites that ‘these com roittees, (meaning the Demoerath Committees’ ‘have no authority’ ti t>ind the voters of the counties b; an agreement which virtually disfrar. ehises the voters at each election,’ b< may be rlsht, and yet be is dea< wrt.tg. The Committee may not 'havt the authority’ but common usagt among Central Democratic Commit tees is such that they are able tc 1 make important agreements, whicl are unnecessary to submit to 'hi > voters. ‘‘As to the statement of voters be ing disfranchised if Garland had adopted the agreement that Is abstirt and has not one grain of value. I could no more disfranchise voters under the harmony agreement tha ! is absurd and ^as not one grain ° i altie It could no more disfrachiM voters under the harmony agreemen than they can be disfranchised with out it, unless similar tactics could b< pursued to those which our chief ex eeutlve has so outrageously enforcet on the people of Garland county Wood's fight against ug will certalnl; strengthen the bonds of friendshi] between the two counties, and w< are happy in the belief that the peo pie of Grland county wilt always b< ready to link their lives with oun in every legitimate cause which wll tend to strengthen the ties of oui I>olifleal friendship.” W.
