CY CLONES and TORNADOES with L>iOsun, of DeOueeu. ) Within roeent years and only recent years Georgia and Alabama have had many thousand spendles for the manufacture of cotton fab rics added to their numerous en terprises and it is all due to the press of theso states. Every news paper from the least to the great est joined in the call to the public and capitalists of the great rnanu facturing New England states to investigate the advantages offered by the south, and tho different localities in those states, and the result is cotton factories in their cotton fields, so to speak. Where is the state more abundantly blessed with advantages suited to that branch of manufacturing than Arkansas? And where is the county in any state more available than Sevier county? We claim overy advantage in the way of convenience to the greatest cotton fields of the south. We are on the line of Arkansas and Texas with the great cotton fields of Louisana to the south of us, only a short distance. We claim as another inducement, as mild a climate as any one could wish and living is cheap enough here. That is not all fuel is not an object of so much cost here as the P. We will say to our brother editors all over the great state of Arkansas, let us talk the resources and advantages of Arkansas till capital is attracted this way. SAND HILL. This lias been the longest dry spell the past year that we have seen iu twenty-six years in Sevier county. \ly father left Pauidin county, Georgia, in the fall of 1872, and landed in Sevier county February 14,1873, in which county we have lived since I was 10 years old. When my father land ed in Sevier county this was a wild country. I have killed many deer and turkey here and have heard the wolves hollow by the hundreds. There has been a big change in old Sevier county. When 1 c ;rne here people cut tirn her where they pleased, hut now you must uot chip a pine tree they are getting scarce, not so scarce but precious. The timber in the Sand Hills is not bought yet. Mr. J. VV. Stephens says that he is going to have his fine timber worked into matches as they are all pine knots. As I have odlv a few pne trees I will have to keep them to get rosin to make soft soap. Como out and see our pine tim ber. Oliver. LEBANON NEWS. Lou Henrii is hunting a job. Mr. Pete Landers little 10year old boy fell on a broad ax and cut a gash four inches long on the calf of his leg. My little 10 year old daughter Mary has been very bid with something like apoplexy. Mr. John Wells who has been running a stave job near De Queen came in Mouday to assist in work ing up my timber. We anticipate a rapid progress in manufac turing staves.
