Newbern and F. O. Love have purchased the Banks place of 320 acres, three miles north west of Oak Forest. It is understood the consideration was $10,000. The Robertson & Benham agency also reports the sale of the M. V. Chris tian place of 160 acres, one mile from Aubrey, to E. R. Walker of Melwood, the consideration being $8,000. McMurray, bookkeeper for the E. J. Beazley Company, took the Pasteur treatment for dog bite Thursday. Ten days ago when Mr. McMurray was in Rgndo on busi ness he was bitten by a dog that was acting strangely. Three days later the dog died and his head was sent to a specialist in Memphis for examination. The specialist report ed the presence of rabies in the dog’s brain. As a. precautionary measure Dr. O. Tuesdav of last week, the evidence I showed Murdock shot the negro after the latter had fired at Murdock, and | in consequence Esq. L. M. Brewer I released Murdock. On the charge of violating the bone dry law by bring ing whiskey into the state. Murdock was fined $100 He appealed the case to circuit court. The Commercial Appeal of Sunday car ried a short story about the slight operation necessary to remove the needle from Mr. Jennings' foot and stated he would probably lose his leg because of blood poison. Moody a merry chase yesterday morning, and if the negro had not winded him. sdt early in the game the chances are he would have outdistanced Geo. Greenhaw's Ford car, which Mr. Moody requisitioned in order to over take the negro. Pierce was caught in the act of committing a robbery at the Lewis Hotel Sunday night about twelve o'clock by Night Officer Dave Shea, who chased the negro through the hotel, into the basement and out on the street. He finally made his escape from the officer. Karly yesterday morning Officer Moody located the negro anil placed him und"r arrest. He escorted his prisoner to t lie city ball, and as Moody entered the building in ad vance of Pierce, the latter slammed the door and made a dash for the tail uncut.
