It is believed thal there are five or ten thousand men in the South ready and willing to share the fate of Curtins, and devote themselves to the salvation of tbeii country. It is proposed that all who anf will ing to make this sacrifice, shall arm them selves with a sword, two five shooters and a carbine each and meet, on horse-back, at some place to be designated, convenient for the great work in hand. Fire and sword must be car ried to the houses of those who are visiting those blessings upon their neighbors. Phila delphia, and even New York, Is not beyond the reach of a long and brave arm. The mo ral people of these cities cannot he better taught the virtues of invasion than by the blazing light of their own dwellings. None need apply for admission to “THE DEVOTED BAND” hut those who are pre pared to take llieir life in their hand, and who would indulge not the least expectation of ever returning. They dedicate their lives to the destruction of their enemies! A. S. B. D. B., Richmond. All Southern paper* are requested to give this notice a few insertions. --- A Religious War.—Harriet Beecher Stowe proposes that the present struggle between the North and the South shall be designated “The Religious War.” In this we are inclined to agree with the author of Uncle Tom’s Cabin. It is a religious war. It is the Bible and pure Christianity against infidelity and God dishon oring crimes, and we are glad to sec that the churches of the South are alive to their respon sibility in this regard. We learn that in two days dui ing the present week 175,000 pages of religious tracts were sent from this city into the various encampments’—[Richmond Dispatch. ---—. LiEttr. Col. J. P. It says: That the South has.no cause for disaffection is more than we can say. The long continued attacks upon its favorite institution from northern presses, pulpits, churches, state legislatures, and inividuals even in congress, are not to be set down as nothing. By some they were intended to sunder the Union; by more, however, only to exterminate slavery— as though the latter could be peaceably done wihhout the former.
