Silence Gives Consent.
Ever since Mr. Taft became
pro.vAlont Colonel Roosevelt has
been one of the editors of The
Outlook, a weekly publication
having a nation-wide circulation,
and since bis return from bis
African hunting trip bo has
made numerous speeches
throughout this country, prob
ably. in excess of one hundred,
and up to this writing he lias
never in one ol his speeches or
one of his editorials retracted
one word of the many splendid
tributes which he has paid to
Taft's wisdom, integrity and
statesmanship, nor lias he ever ;
felt called upon to apologize for .
his strenuous and unqualified in
dorsement of Taft's fitness to be
come president of the United!
States. There is an old ladage ,
that "Silence gives consent,” and
Colonel Roosevelt s silence can
only be construed to mean that .
he, in common with tin* great
majority of the people of this
country, sincerely believes that 1

ured up to Roosevelt’s estimate ;
of his character and fitness for I

home. As elsewhere in the
world, farming here and stock
raising should go together Don’t
put a lot of money in tools. Use
a few tools and use them well.,
Gasoline pumping doesn’t pay
beyond forty feet for irrigation.
Wind costs nothing—use it.
