Thompson, has sold 18 riding listers this spring besides a number of other farm imple ments. This speaks well for this part of Baca county. A nice :: inch ram fell here Saturday Highland Sunday. We predict a large crop of *miall grain this year. Geo. Ervin lvonkel has installed quite an irrigation system in his yard. Leroy Thacker, Watertown,-S. We hear no complaint of dry weather at present. R. Dance and Mr. Collins were at Syracuse last week. Mr. Gar vie passed thru tirst of the week with his well outfit. He was on bis way to Mr. "W insworth where be is going to dig for ar tesian water. Arthur Johnston is busy work ing on that new house of his. Wonder what will happen next. Fanny Detweilcr came in on the auto Tuesday. We are all glad to see her back. T. N. Corrie is putting out :i small orchard on his place. He is using dynamite with which to break up the subsoil, and as a labor saving device in digging the holes. He is well pleased with the condition in which it leaves the ground. Mel Fresh and Ezra Dance an* putting in good time breaking sod on their homesteads. Will Tudhopo and Oil Doner seeded broom corn last week. Mr. Nichols’ have their house plastered and the interior work completed. They have a neat little home now for a new place. Mrs. : Frank McGowan and daughter visited with Ida Black welder, Saturday. Mrs. M. Bishop. It is reported that Aaran Pug sloy started the tirst of the week for Old Mexico, but whether for land, work, or to help them fight has not been learned. Sunday school is progressing nicely, with Charley Meyers as superintendent. The attendance has been very good since the weather has turned out propiti ously. i The awful winter seems to have so dazed the Boston W. C. T. U. that it has been unable to the present time to revive itself. So far I have not heard of a single Bostonian planting pota toes, they individually and col lectively seeming to have drop ped out by a kind of common im pulse. It is probable that last year was the straw that bro»(e the cambell’s back. The writer is going to grow a dose of llax this year, and will report success at the end of th*-* season. I understand that llax was grown some herein the old days. While talking of growing, the man who will get out from one to a few acres of peanuts this year will not make any mistake in a money crop. There isn’t a dry plant that will stand more dry weather than the peanut and make good. J. E.
