Howell was in from his ranch the first of the week. A. K. Howell and wife were pleasant callers on the 9th inst. Will Oakes of Stonington, was n pleasant caller on the 12th inst. Miss Alice Wagner was tak-n down with measies the first of the week. Is getting along fair ly well. Jim Breslin has been visiting, in the county the past week. The Breslins are old timers, but are now residing at Lamar. Mrs. McFarland, after a very pleasant visit with her children and friends here, re turned to her present home at Herrington, Kans., Wednesday. The editor took a run np to Lamar last week in the Horn sher car, returning the next day with banker Maxwell. It was the first Lamar outing In five years. John McMahan and Curt Rogers, whe are visiting the Riches south of Vilas, brought Mr. and Mrs. Specht up the first of the week. Mr. McMa han gave the Herald a call. Opera Play. While Stonington will be sorry to losei him, Springfield is glad to get him back. Walker of the Richard’s country made pi oof on their farms be loio Com. Speckinann Tuesday. The Walkers were out here in the old days, and this time are going io stay and grow up with , llm country. They are well equipped with farm tools, and 1 by combining farming and stock .raising, they can be counted ju as permanent fixtures of the country. The Herald acknowl edges a pleasant call. Married. The Herald has it on informa tion that Leslie Ellis and Miss Edna Greathouse were roarrie in Richfield last week. Leslie Ellis is a nephew of H. K. Ellis, and if he is anything liko ( ills uncle is an all-round, good,, sociable fellow. j The bride, Mias Enda, is al dangliter of Mr. and Mrs, Duvi I Greathouse, presumedly was born here, and at all evenfca nev er knew any other country. The Herald joins their many friends in extending congratula tions. G. R.
