Oriville Baber, of Yosemento, Kansas is here visiting the home folks ,this week. - Harry Fry, was transacting business in Cheyenne Wells the first of the week. Tift U. P. pump gang were up repairing the railroad pumps at this place Tuesday. N. A. Peugh. of Arapahoe, was transacting business in Cheyenne Wells Monday. Clarence Geary and W. F. Wy ant were pleasant callers at these headquarters Wednesday. Geo. Ambrosier, of the north east part of the county, was in Cheyenne Wells the first of the week. There will be Catholic services at the Cahill & Wells Annex, every • third Sunday in each month. W. F. Wyant has installed a gas pumping engine to J. A. Jenkin’s pump since the wind mill became broke. Mrs. Chrystler, daughter of George Forker, and children, of Flint, Mich., were here the latter part of last week on a short visit. We have just learned that W. F. Wyant, succeeded in getting Mr. Hibbard a splendid well of water on his farm, a few weeks ago. Hattie Galland, of Arapahoe, who has been working at Colo rado Springs for some time, re turned to her homestead the lat ter part of last week. C. J. Healey, of State Sanitar ium, Minn., arrived in Cheyenne BS»11b on the morning of July 4. He says he k doing fine out there. Give her a trial. Edgar H. Golpin of Sheridan Lake and Maude Ferguson of Kauorado, Kansas, were united in marriage at the M. E, Parson age in Cheyenne Wells, last Thursday afternoon by Rev.D. M Scott. Lester Parker, of the Oberlin Times, and a son of Mrs. Parker of this place, made this office a friendly call, Wednesday. Mr. | Parker seems like a nice gentle man and we are pleased to have made his acquaintance. Mr. Parker is an old time resident of Cheyenne Wells. Rev. D. M. Scott and family returned to Cheyenne Wells the latter part of last week after an absence of a few weeks. They have been visiting their folks in Kansas and Missouri. Mr. Scott has been taking a long needed rest and can now go back to. his work with renewed energy, he is looking and feeling better than when he left. Our old friend, F. T. Naylor, of the Sharon Springs Times, was in Cheyenne Wells between trains on July 4. He called at j the Times office and we had a very pleasant visit, it being the first we have seen Fred in about five years. We think the people of Sharon Springs are to be con | gratulated on getting such a nice man as Mr. Naylor, in their ' midst. Call again Fred. Sheriff Williams and the sheriff of Kiowa county, went down t south of Arapahoe, Monday and arrested .Walt Schaffer Geo. | Abernathy and Howard Baer for , horse stealing, Schaffer was ta ken to Kiowa county Baer and Abernathy was lodged in jail at Cheyenne Wells, We are sorry to | learn of these young men being j engaged in this kind of business, as they were considered to be nice young men but if they are j guilty of the charge we hope that justice will be meted out to them promptly, and perhaps it will be a good lesson to others. Howard Baer was released on ( bail. We hope if these men are ' not guilty, and know who the guilty ones are that they will divulge their names to the au thorities so that justice may be ' meted out to the proper ones'. Cru son became frightened at an au tomobile and started to runaway, the team turned Jshort breaking the buggy tongue, throwing Mrs. Cruson and her baby and a lady who was with her, out, the baby and lady receiving several minor bruises. Mr. Hayes who hap pened to be near brought them to town in his auto.
